J+B Tackle Winter series

These are the final twelve but who ended up being the J+B champ 2009...

On 29th March 2009, we hosted the J+B tackle winter league final and I would just like to say a big thank you to all that attended and a special thanks to Paul Dunn and Steve Goring for all their help organizing another great series, however the smart ones amongst you will notice that there are 13 anglers photographed above and in a 12 peg final this means there is one impostor, I will help you out front row blue Hat that's him (Chris Beaumont), the legendary sandwich maker that didn't qualify last week...

The Top Four Left to Right, Mick Parrini, Ricky Martinelli, Jason Venis, Mickey Neal....

12 Fished

1st. Jason Venis, J+B Tackle,                                              peg 16          26-12-0
So it was the J+B tackle boss that finally finished the series a champion of his own competition, a great victory for a great chap that has not had the best of time after the sad loss of his dad Brian Venis a popular man that was taken suddenly last summer, Jason has had this peg a couple of times this series and soon started to get some response from his corn approach tight to the far bank, bad weather the day before with ice and rain water topping up the levels was not going to help but this was the last chance to make it count and Jason fished it positive with the corn and it paid off a treat, £170 in the kitty soon put a smile of the face of Mr.Venis

2nd. Ricky Martinelli, Roman Urn,                                       peg 6           24-04-0
Last years champ nearly made it two out of two Ricky fished tight to the far bank with corn and fished maggot in the open water for the roach just to fill in the gaps, the previous days weather had put the fish down and keeping busy was the way forward for the big man Ricky, when the scales got to Rick he said " I don't mind not winning this year just as long as I get to sample Beaumont's sandwiches"

3rd. Mick Parrini, J+B Tackle,                                               peg 14        18-00-0

4th. Danny Fells, Roman Urn,                                              peg 24         13-12-0

5th. Yorkie, J+B Tackle,                                                        peg 19         13-08-0

6th. Kevin Hodges, J+B Tackle,                                           peg 8           12-12-0

Its at this point I would just like to add Chris Beaumont did not bring the sandwiches, cocktail sausages or the cheese and pineapple skewers, so a big thanks to you Chris for not bringing the grub you tosser, thanks lads for your support this winter see you next year and that includes you as well Chris.

Next week is the battle of the champions and all the non qualifiers have chosen Chris Beaumont to do the sandwiches as he failed to make the grade in his last week of trying, rumour has it he is a better sandwich maker than an angler so the grub should be good boys....

1st. Micky Neal, J+B Tackle,                                           peg 9        30-08-0
The second victory of the series and he is looking to be a real contender for the final next week, fishing across to the far bank Mick snared a few 3lb carp to boost his weight above his nearest rival Dave Davis.

2nd. Dave Davis, J+B Tackle,                                         peg 6        26-08-0
Another close match as the sun shone, the bites weren't as prolific as you would expect on a beautiful spring day, Dave caught early and really struggled for the second half of the match, carp across to the far bank.

3rd. Steve Goring, J+B Tackle,                                      peg 24       26-06-0

4th. Paul Dunn, J+B Tackle,                                           peg 21       24-00-0

5th. Sid Dean, J+B Tackle,                                             peg 8         23-00-0

16 Fished

1st. Steve Goring, J+B Tackle,                                     peg 9       23-00-0
Already qualified for the final in two weeks time Steve is just collecting victories just for fun now, not only is he doing the business on the Sunday series but he is more than holding his own in the Saturday matches as well, Steve fished across to the far bank with pellet where a carp or two pulled the float under.

2nd. Micky Neal, J+B Tackle,                                        peg 6       21-06-0
Micky has drawn bang on and fishing corn the bites were slower but the fish are generally bigger and this placing secure's Mick a place in the final in two weeks time.

3rd. Ricky Martinelli, J+B Tackle,                                 peg 1       18-10-0

4th. Danny Fells, J+B Tackle,                                       peg 12      17-04-0

5th. Mick Parrini, J+B Tackle,                                       peg 23      13-02-0

Round two in the wind and the rain doesn't put Davis off his game...

16 Fished

1st. Dave Davis, J+B Tackle,                                            peg 6             43-12-0
A victory and in style as well and on a day you just didn't want to be fishing driving ice cold rain and wind like no other, Dave had this almost on his back so presenting the bait was almost bearable, down the inside edge for those bonus carp, pellet and corn.

2nd. John Carter, J+B Tackle,                                          peg 21           21-15-0
John has let the angling slip for his new love of shooting but he fancied the league and in his first match in months this man shows that its like riding a bike you never forget, not a bad peg this time of the year but the wind would have been directly into his face making conditions tuff, small carp tight to the far bank and inside edge.

3rd. Yorkie, J+B Tackle,                                                     peg 17           19-07-0

4th. Ricky Martin, J+B Tackle,                                           peg 20           17-01-0

5th. Mick Parrini, J+B Tackle,                                            peg 14           12-11-0

6th. Paul Dunn, J+B Tackle,                                               peg 11           11-07-0

16 Fished

1st. Steve Goring, J+B Tackle,                                     peg 9         32-10-0
4mm expander pellet almost to the far bank was the game plan for Steve but it only started to produce in the last hour, carp up to 3lb makes Steve the first qualifier of the series, way to go tall bloke.

2nd. Jason Venis, J+B Tackle,                                      peg 16      17-08-0
The J+B boss also gets the qualifying out the way as soon poss on one of the better winter pegs on the venue, pellet and corn tight to the far bank, little carp.

3rd. Kevin Hodges, J+B Tackle,                                   peg 14      16-09-0

4th. Mick Parrini, J+B Tackle,                                       peg 6         15-12-0

5th. Paul Dunn, J+B Tackle,                                          peg 5         12-08-0
