29 th December 2011

The last open match of 2011 and it was Stuart Bracey who travelled 160 miles round trip from Cambridgeshire to catch a huge bag of fish on a very cold and blustery day at the Lake…

Vince Cross (left) and Stuart Bracey (right) both picked up money today, but Vince baby only managed the boobie prize, lol

Stuart Bracey, Dynamite Baits, peg 13, 76-8-0

How dare he travel 1hr 30 minutes each way and then win the match with ease, Stu started the match with a positive carp approach with double corn on the hook and a close chuck to the island, Stu wasted no time catching 7 carp and only two of these over the 10lb mark, Which means Stu has cheated nearly all match , he could have stopped at a dozen carp venues on his way down to catch carp but instead he decided to do it here lol,   Stuart also fished his trade mark 16m pellet line and managed a few silver fish on the pellet, a fine performance from unlucky peg 13

Simon Willsmore, Milo-D+A Tackle, peg 10, 40-8-0

Simon set up his bivvy again today as he went carp fishing, fishing corn on the feeder, but it didn't go to plan as he only managed one put back and one in the net, but being the true pro, Simon got busy on the pole and scraped a few silvers together as well, in a word "Class"

Colin Horwood, Harrow Postals, peg 11, 32-12-0

Well done Col, not being fazed by the quality of the anglers either side he also managed a couple of carp on the tip and a dozen pound of bits just enough to line his pocket with a few more bucks than he arrived with, happy new year Col proud of ya…

Alan Spooner, Lake John Fishery, peg 34, 28-8-0

Charley Clark, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 33, 27-8-0

Tony Cassidy, Oakwood Angling, peg 29, 24-4-0

It rained and then it rained some more!

9 fished

1st. Graham Cook, Lake John, peg 10 47-04-0
Biteless for the first 30 minutes, then starting getting the skimmers going down the middle, had a good last hour, carp to 5lb on pellet in close.

2nd. Paul Dunn, J&B Tackle, peg 5 41-12-0
Paul would probably have won tonight’s match if peg 6 hadn’t been included and he didn’t need to compete for fish.

3rd. Charlie Clarke, Lake John, peg 16 31-12-0
Charlie also caught well in the last hour fishing the margins for carp and bream.

4th. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries, peg 1 30-00-0

5th. Attilla Szekeres, Angling Direct, peg 24 25-08-0

6th. Richard Hodgkiss, Lake John, peg 20 19-08-0

Robin sets a new three-hour standard

9 fished

1st. Robin Driscoll, Andy Finlay Promotions, peg 16 82-00-0
Fishing under his feet Robin quickly gained a lead, catching bream and small carp from the off until the larger carp moved in. This is the season’s biggest weight fishing the full three hours.

2nd. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries, peg 14 75-04-0
Martin drew Saturday’s winning peg and it could have been a very different result had he not lost four big carp in succession.

3rd. Gary Miller, VDE Maver Image, peg 3 61-00-0
This peg threw up another big weight at the weekend. Gary’s had a lot of fish, but not the larger carp that seem to have settled in pegs 14 and 16.

4th. Colin Bartlett, Lake John, peg 21 58-00-0

5th. P Nicholas, Lake John, peg 1 50-00-0

6th. Graham Cook, Lake John, peg 12 49-08-0
