It rained and then it rained some more!

9 fished

1st. Graham Cook, Lake John,                              peg 10    47-04-0
Biteless for the first 30 minutes, then starting getting the skimmers going down the middle, had a good last hour, carp to 5lb on pellet in close.

2nd. Paul Dunn, J&B Tackle,                                 peg 5      41-12-0
Paul would probably have won tonight’s match if peg 6 hadn’t been included and he didn’t need to compete for fish

3rd. Charlie Clarke, Lake John,                             peg 16    31-12-0
Charlie also caught well in the last hour fishing the margins for carp and bream.

4th. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,                   peg 1      30-00-0

5th. Attilla Szekeres, Angling Direct,                    peg 24    25-08-0

Robin sets a new three-hour standard

9 fished

1st. Robin Driscoll, Andy Finlay Promotions,     peg 16    82-00-0
Fishing under his feet Robin quickly gained a lead, catching bream and small carp from the off until the larger carp moved in. This is the season’s biggest weight fishing the full three hours.

2nd. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,                  peg 14     75-04-0
Martin drew Saturday’s winning peg and it could have been a very different result had he not lost four big carp in succession.

3rd. Gary Miller, VDE Maver Image,                       peg 3      61-00-0
This peg threw up another big weight at the weekend. Gary’s had a lot of fish, but not the larger carp that seem to have settled in pegs 14 and 16.

4th. Colin Bartlett, Lake John,                                peg 21    58-00-0

5th. P Nicholas, Lake John,                                    peg 1      50-00-0

6th. Graham Cook, Lake John,                               peg 12    49-08-0

Note – Next Thursday’s draw will be at 4.30 – Fishing 5.00 to 20.00

The nights may be drawing in but the evening mob are still seeing lots of action

8 fished

1st. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,                 peg 16    47-08-0
Martin was regularly nicking carp in the 1-2lb bracket with the odd bonus fish throughout the match. Pellet, meat and corn.

2nd. Paul Dunn, J&B Tackle,                                peg 6      45-12-0
With peg 5 out and the more favoured peg 6 in tonight Paul knew he had a good chance. Carp and bream caught far over and close in.

3rd. Gary Miller, VDE Maver Image,                    peg 14    44-08-0
Struggling with only three fish in the first 90 minutes, Gary was rescued by the late arrival of carp in the margins. Would have won but lost a 5lb-er at the net.

4th. Phil, Lake John,                                              peg 3      29-00-0

5th. Graham Cook, Lake John,                             peg 22    27-00-0

6th. Mark, Lake John,                                            peg 12    21-08-0

Mr Consistent gives the boys a tuning

8 fished

1st. Gary Miller, VDE Maver Image,                      peg 24    71-00-0
While the rest of us were busy hooking and losing fish Gary once again has managed to keep them coming all night and ended up with a lot of fish. Carp mostly in the 1/2lb - 3lb bracket.

2nd. Paul Dunn, J&B Tackle,                                peg 8      57-04-0
Saturday’s bridesmaid was once again right up there again in the 3 hour evening sprint.

3rd. Robin Driscoll, Andy Finlay Promotions,     peg 16   55-04-0
Robin’s rich vein of form continues. Catching well in the near margins he was very unlucky not to end up in the prize money tonight.

4th. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,                   peg 5     49-08-0

5th. Attilla Szekeres, Angling Direct,                    peg 3     28-12-0

6th. Graham Cook, Lake John,                              peg 14   27-08-0

Results for Thursday 8th June 2010

With three 100lb weights coming out on Saturday and fish topping everywhere the signs looked good for this week’s evening match

5 fished

1st. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,                  peg 6      67-0-0
Starved of action during the week due to work commitments, Martin. Martin took top honours with Carp to 7lb, caught close in on meat and pellet.

2nd. Gary Miller, VDE Maver Image,                    peg 3       58-8-0
A slow start for Gary, the first hour only produced 4-5lb of fish, but then the bigger fish turned up. Carp up to 6lb.

3rd. Robin Driscoll, Andy Findlay promotions,   peg 16    51-8-0
Robin repeated Saturday’s approach and caught in the margins from the off. However, a disastrous last hour resulted in him snapping his pole elastic and losing a run of big fish.

4th. Ricky Martinelli, Roman Urn,                         peg 3       48-0-0

5th. Graham Cook, Lake John,                             peg 20     35-12-0

6th. Marcin Kiedrowski, Angling Direct,              peg 12     31-4-0

Fished everywhere, caught everything

7 fished

1st. Colin Bartlett, Lake John,                               peg 20    75-14-0
A last minute decision to fish the evening match proved a good one. Meat, fished far side, down the middle and in the margins for carp to 5lb, bream to 2lb and crucians and roach.

2nd. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,                  peg 12    59-4-0
Uncharacteristic slow start, Martin had to be content with catching bream and silvers. A move to the inside and a switch to meat saw him put 30lb of carp in the net in the last hour.

3rd. Gary Miller, VDE Maver Image,                       peg 6     57-8-0
For some reason the carp in this peg just did not want to feed. Gary’s ended up framing with mostly bream, roach and crucians.

4th. Graham Cook, Lake John,                               peg 9     50-12-0

5th. Marcin Kiedrowski, Angling Direct,                peg 14   40-4-0

6th. John Young, Lake John,                                  peg 24   28-0-0

We all took a break from the world cup. How Fabio must be wishing Amos was a goalie…

10 fished

1st. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,                  peg 6      76-0-0
The Amos Express clocked an average speed of 25lb an hour tonight. Fishing under his toes close to his keepnet Martin’s green elastic did not stop coming out of his pole. Carp to 5lb and lots of them couldn’t get enough of his pellet and meat offerings.

2nd. Andy Gregory, Milo Borden,                        peg 12     67-0-0
We’re thinking of naming this end of the lake ‘Gregory Corner’. Drew bang on the fish again and again showed the rest of us how to do it. Carp to 6lb with the odd bream making a guest appearance.

3rd. Colin Bartlett, Lake John,                              peg 8       54-8-0
Probably more fish than anyone else, loads of small carp, skimmers, roach, rudd and crucians. It was a very tight call at the scales, but it is his lake and it was getting dark.

4th. Scott Clark, Lake John,                                  peg 3       54-4-0

5th. Gary Miller, VDE Maver Image                       peg 1       53-4-0

6th. Paul Dunn, J&B Tackle,                                  peg 20     52-0-0

He had his pocket picked last week, but this time Amos commits evening robbery

9 fished

1st. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries                  peg 10     40-0-0
For some reason the carp were slow to feed tonight. Martin realised this quicker than most and rang the changes, targeting bream down the middle. Then, with ten minutes to go he had a 5lb carp and two 2lb bream to nick it by half a pound.

2nd. Andy Gregory, Milo Borden,                        peg 16     39-8-0
Meat fished down the track and along the margins both sides saw Andy catching steadily throughout. Lost a the winning fish as well when he shipped back to his top three only to see a huge carp take off and part company.

3rd. Scott Clarke, Lake John,                               peg 21     31-8-0
Again, very few carp and mostly bream and crucians for Scott.

4th. John Young, Lake John,                                peg 3      29-0-0

5th. Darren Clarke, Lake John,                             peg 24    23-8-0

6th. Paul Dunn, J&B Tackle,                                 peg 8      21-0-0

It’s a night of high drama, a photo finish and a dead heat.

10 fished

1st. Gary Miller, VDE Maver Image                      peg 12     61-0-0
After three hours you still couldn’t get a fag paper between them. Gary took a slightly different route to get there, targeting skimmers and anything swimming with the odd bonus carp thrown in. In the last five minutes two 3lb carp slipped the hook much to Martin’s delight.

1st. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,                  peg 14     61-0-0
Slow on the corn, Martin changed to his beloved pellets and caught well down at his feet and along the right hand margin. Carp up to 6lb with the odd skimmer and crucian thrown in.

3rd. Martin Foster, Maver Image,                          peg 6       46-8-0
Martin caught steadily all match, picking up small carp over the far side to start with and then bigger fish along the left hand margin up to the pump. Just managed to hold on from one of the best junior ladies anglers in Peg 23 who finished like a train.

4th. Charlie Clarke, Lake John,                             peg 23    46-4-0

5th. Colin Bartlett, Lake John,                               peg 10    39-8-0

6th. Paul Dunn, J&B Tackle,                                  peg 8      36-0-0

Results for Thursday 27th May 2010

With the fish slightly subdued it was about working all areas of the peg and no one done it better than Mr Miller.

9 fished

1st. Gary Miller, VDE Maver Image                      peg 17     55-00-0
Everyone thought he was struggling, but he must have been sneaking them in. Carp to 5lb, skimmers and crucians caught across and down the middle.

2nd. John Young, Lake John,                               peg 20     41-00-0
You can’t buy experience. This peg doesn’t normally go in the hat but John knew exactly how to get the best out of it. Admitted to having 20lb but was pleasantly surprised at the weigh in.

3rd. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,                 peg 4       38-04-0
Like all of us, Martin expected to catch in the margins but they just weren’t there tonight. Plan B was to search out the far side with meat, corn and pellet for small carp up to 2lb and it worked a treat.

4th. Graham Cook, Lake John,                             peg 12     30-08-0

5th. Len Goulding, Simpsons Direct Angling,    peg 14     18-00-0

6th. Darren Clarke, Lake John,                             peg 6       17-12-0

Amos the marathon man

11 fished

1st. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,               peg 8      49-12-0
Having done the open on Magic Lake during the day, Martin still had enough bait and energy left to top a quality evening field. He fished briefly at 12m and 8m, before settling for an all out margin attack. Meat and corn for carp to 5lb with the odd bream.

2nd. Andy Gregory, Milo Borden,                     peg 14     46-12-0
Swinging the pole up towards the bridge, Andy set off like an express train and was easily ahead of everyone by the halfway stage of this three hour contest. But a slow last hour and some lost fish has cost him dearly in the end.

3rd. Gary Miller, VDE Maver Image,                  peg 3       45-0-0
Gary’s had fish knocking his float about on the far side, fizzing down the middle, and crashing in the margins. Even so he eventually got them to get their heads down and feed to snatch third spot in a very tight frame.

4th. Glen Butler, Bowlers Bait Zone,                 peg 5      42-0-0

5th. Paul Dunn, J&B Tackle,                               peg 1      36-0-0

6th. Graham Cook, Lake John,                           peg 10    34-12-0

The speed kind wins the second evening sprint

12 fished

1st. Gary Miller, VDE Maver Essex,                  peg 3      73-8-0
Over 80lb in under three hours last week, Gary is in a rich vein of form at the moment, meat to the far side for carp in the 2-6lb range. With the nights drawing out we could witness our first evening ton this year. Well done mate.

2nd. Darren Clark, Lake John,                          peg 23     42-0-0
Darren secured the family bragging rights for this week and edged an otherwise tight frame. In truth this was not the most fancied peg in the draw bag either.

Jt 3rd. Scott Clark, Lake John,                         peg 8       41-8-0
Jt 3rd. M Chara, Lake John,                              peg 16     41-8-0

5th. Graham Cook, Lake John,                        peg 14      39-0-0

6th. M Foster, Lake John,                                 peg 19      36-0-0
