Its that Miller man again, he had a blinder last year winning everything there was to win and on his only Wednesday this year he takes the victory....

Gary Miller, Maver-Image-Bait Tech, peg 8, 121-4-0
Not only is this a great days fishing but there was not a carp in sight, as the Miller man took his silver fish up in the water at 13m when the wind would allow, and when the wind was to strong Gary came back on his shorter 6m line and just kept putting the fish in the net, with 4mm cubes of meat catapulted little and often, the Miller man had his match on point today, he wont be here next week thank god he's got to work

Alec Roberts, Middy-Lake John, peg 33, 114-4-0
Al comes back after some time away and draws arguable the best peg in the South East and makes it work, silvers and one carp gave Alec his total but there were eight carp hooked but not netted that added a little spice on this wet and dreary day.

Hertfordshire based fireman Clive Bailey tops the leader board but not without a early match disater, as the top four Anglers all top the 100lb...

Clive Bailey, Herts Fire, peg 26, 116-8-0
Clive loves his caster fishing down the edge so he adopted the same tactics today but with corn substituing the caster, and it was the first put in and big a carp tore off and snaped the pole elastic and took the rig to the depths never to be seen again, so out came the waggler rod and Clive fished the same style but now with a running line and it was a great transformation as he went on to hook four more carp and a huge bag of silver fish and tench, nice one Clive a moment of genius....

Local postie Mark Parris, take's the honours this week, but not before a disaster as he forgets all his bait and then has the cheek to get his lovely girlfriend Claire from her sick bed to deliver the winning ingredients to his peg, you should be ashamed Marky...

Mark Parris, Lake John, peg 34, 76-8-0
After fetching his good lady from her sick bed on an urgent recorded bait delivery, Mark started his match long with pellet and corn and soon had a steady flow of fish, but it was that shorter 5m line again with corn and pellet that done the damage as the wind and the rain really started to pick up the long pole for everyone in attendance became an impossibility, big old mature black bream and a tench or two, no carp

Amos does it again and he's on yet another golden peg, I've told him to start going else where on a Wednesday from now on, lol…

Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 39, 76-12-0

Amos does his usual simple pellet trick both long and short and perhaps for the first time this year sets a shorter margin line in place and this was probably the match winning move that helped scope all that golden peg purse, skimmers and bream no carp

Mark Parris, Lake John, peg 27, 67-12-0

Slip the postman is back on the scene and taking home the dollar again, a form peg all winter and it continues to show that even a postman can get a few fish out of here, skimmers and bream

Billy Everitt, Redbridge Lakes, peg 38, 57-8-0

Bill is getting to grips with the place fast now, as he takes last weeks section place and turns it into a respectable third, what will next week bring?

Steve Clark, Maver-Image, peg 27, 64-4-0

Making this his 7 th win in a row, on different venues, Martin is master of the pellet and proves to be a hard man to beat when the pellet is working, but today he had to share the victory with Maver Captain Steve Clark, these two were neck and neck all day with a slight difference in hook bait Steve caught his bigger fish on the corn whilst Martin stayed with his trusted pellet, both fished the long 13m pole line

Roy continues his winning streak, three wins back to back at Magic Lakes and his first win here on the top lake for a while, but when you win a match a Lake John you get a nice write and a picture of you revelling in your finest hour…

Roy Makins, GOT Baits, peg 28, 70-8-0

Roy Fished his trusted GOT pellet at a much shorter 8m line and claims 4 pints of expanders went through the peg during the six hours which is about the volume of bait every peg needs now that the water temperature is rising, skimmers and bream with an odd spring time tench just to add a splash of colour to the weigh sling, doesn't he take a great pic Roy is the one on the right the other Roy is an imposter

Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 26, 51-12-0

Martin drew this peg a couple of matches ago and had a nightmare but as temperatures rise things start to change fast, skimmers and smaller fish for the most part but it was a look down the inside edgein the last hour   that   got the Amos out of jail adding 25lb of bonus bream from the margins, lucky old Amos

Paul (Goldie) Goldstraw, Stanjay-Fox, peg   9, 49-4-0

Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 14, 39-4-0

Martin made the most of the rise in temperature and pumped up them expander pellet and depending on whether he was going out that evening he would be putting some secret smelly additive to his pellets, but this is a secret don't tell anyone I told you, Fish Guts from Dynamite baits, there you got it out of me, only a short 11m pole today cos that wind was mighty blowy, 4mm expander resulted in loads and loads of bites.

Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 33, 81-0-0, golden peg

What a weight from possibly the best peg in England, it was first last week and again this week, this peg offers so much good depth of water good margin depths so you can imagine how dangerous this peg can be with a venue expert on it, Martin done a feature on this peg a few years ago and it became his curse peg but not today as he scoops £170 and a near summer bag of silver fish, all pellet fish at 13m, "who needs to go to Ireland to get a weight of skimmers and bream", was the exact words from Simon Willsmore, (Milo+Dorking), after the match as he congratulated Martin on a fantastic victory, Young Martin Amos junior however blanked today, he didn't want you to know this but hey ho the damage is done now...

Paul (Goldie) Goldstraw, Stanjay-Fox, peg   16, 43-12-0

Goldie gave me a bit of a grilling as I didn't get the results on the web until late this week, he sulked a bit and sent me a couple of very unfriendly text's as I took his pic and didn't publish it until late, so this week I feel that I have to be prompt because I don't think he has any more dummies left to throw out of the pram, so I am going to get this over with as soon as, but not forgetting his win last week, Goldie has to settle for Silvery, as he drops one place but it has to be said he has done the biz from this peg and yet again proves himself to be a fishing legend, am I forgiven now mate, but you did cheat week with a big carp you cheat, lol, pellet on the long pole, skimmers and bream, and here is another pic of Goldie just so he doesn't feel left out again like last week....

Goldie takes the Gold medal this week after respectable silver last week, as he returns to the Lake John family for his regular winter visits

Paul Goldstraw, Stanjay-Fox, peg 33, 44-8-0

Goldie has drawn the best peg in England this week and   has done the business as he loose fed through a kinder cup at 16m with a soft expander pellet to the hook, skimmers and bream and a big bonus carp just for good measure, but as we all know the minute you land a carp during any of our open matches you are deemed a cheat, so Goldie you are a Cheat....

Mick Scanlan, Oakwood Angling, peg 9, 38-4-0

A day on the long pole and pellet from the soft pellet expert, all silvers no need to bag a bonus but it just goes to show that with this mild weather the big carp are really making the presence known and have a big influence on the final results

Big cup full of pellets soon does the trick when you need afew more bites, Martin fished 13m most of the match but the match took ongreater strength as he switched to his shorter 8m line, 4mm expander pellet tothe hook over micro for a most enjoyable bag of skimmers and silvers

Hang on a minute who is this taking first place this week, it's only a another Amos but this time it's Martin Amos junior, what's that all about the Lake John legend Martin is introducing new blood to the lake, and he has even had the cheek to name him after himself, do you follow so far then read on, because he was on a golden peg as well, unbelievable Happy new year young Amos …

Martin Amos Jnr, Lake John-Bedwell Fisheries, peg10, 49-4-0

So this is how it happened Martin Amos(senior), invited Martin Amos(junior) for a days fishing on the lake and out of his comfort zone Amos Junior who would be found more at ease behind a pair of carp rods managed to not only draw next to his Dad in his first open match but also managed to give him an absolute tuning in the process, Unfamiliar with the small hooks and light lines of match fishing young Martin hair rigged a grain of corn and flicked it into the open water just off the island and hooked and landed 7 carp but only one was good enough to be released the others were all under 10lb and counted for there own weight, Martin Amos pictured left and right you can decide who's who

Mick Scanlan, Oakwood Angling, peg 34, 39-8-0
I've got to say I sat next to Mick today and what a tidy match he fished catching all things with fins most of the day on pellet but he had to lower his standards and turn to the dark side and go carp fishing, and it worked one bonus carp safe and sound, on one of the coldest pegs on the bank today, well done Micky

Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle, peg 36, 29-10-0
Boy this was a cold peg today and so I opted to fish the tip for nearly the entire match, corn to the hook, and a carp angler I became, three carp landed and very little else, what a cheat before you say it.

Milo ace Willsmore carps his way to victory, which is just like cheating on a silver fish venue, not that he would cheat he's to much of a nice bloke...

Simon Willsmore, Milo-D+A Tackle, peg 30, 35-4-0

Instead of fishing it properly Simon stayed on the feeder and with a grain of corn on the hook he went carp fishing, he didn't have time to set up his bivvy because with one carp already foul hooked and landed before the half way stage Simon hedged his bets and continued for the big fish and it worked as he landed three carp in total and only a few bits on the long pole but enough on the day the collect all that lovely money

Barry Oliver, Maver-Image, peg 38, 28-8-0
With very strong winds pushing into the peg presentation was very difficult and so Bazza had to fish the much shorter 6m line with maggot and caster and this proved very strong up until the last hour

Alec Roberts, Middy-Lake John Fishery, peg 14, 27-2-0
Alec makes a welcome return to the lake after a long layoff and tells me after the match that he wasted to long on the tip and ground bait lines that possibly could have cost him the match, it wasn't until he switch to pellet the match really came to life

Its the first score for Mr Law at Lake John's top lake after several years of trying but at last he finally cracks it and takes top slot …

Paul Law, Garbolino-Apollo, peg 34, 32-2-0

Paul had a great match on the Sunday having drawn next to angling Ace Gary Miller and seems to have a taste for things at the moment and he was more than pleased with his peg today knowing that it was a framing peg during the weekend ice over, more than a look on the feeder paid off in the early part of the match as he put a bonus carp in the net and an over 10lb Lake John release carp, well worth while because he very nearly didn't take his tip rod to his peg, then it was onto the long pole, maggot and ground bait to scratch a much needed 13lb to edge past the wonder of the Willsmore that was pressing hard on the opposite bank.

Simon Willsmore, Milo-D+A Tackle, peg 11, 23-0-0

Bashed by a carp advantage this week as the mild weather returns Simon didn't see any big fish this week as he had to settle for a busy day on the silvers with a worm and maggot combo on the long pole, yet another pay day for the Milo man

We have a new name at the top of the leader board this week, Rob Dean just edge's it with his worm and caster combo...Liking the fishing loving the cash...

Robert Dean, Princess Alexandra Hospital, peg 26, 33-0-0
Rob approached the peg with a bit more knowledge this week as he analyised his match last week and tweeked his performance last week the worm was an over kill so it was a more caster feed and caster to the hook that made this match a real close call, Rob kept busy with the skimmers and the big perch that are really showing themselves at the moment, a fine performance today Mr Dean.

Ray Morantsing, Barnet and District A.C, peg 13, 31-8-0
Ray fished his own way today mixing the waggler and the feeder and it was a switch to the double maggot that generated the
better fish, good to see new names in the top listings this week.

Simon made his come back last week and finished a very respectable second and then proceeds to draw last weeks winning peg this week and wins the bloody match nicking the golden peg purse away from me in my back garden….Flipping Liberty, worms all the way with a sprinkling of cast neat no groundbait 14m and plenty of tucker, the more feed the more the fish kept coming, and coming on a day that the winter finally seemed like it was starting to arrive, skimmers, bream, roach and tench, a neck and neck match today for the top five

Colin Bartlett, Lake John Fishery-J+B Tackle, peg 11, 44-12-0, Golden Peg
Just like riding a bike you don’t forget… lol, my first match back for several weeks and it took a while to get my head round things but it was a long pole match and plenty of caster with a change of hook baits mid match as the caster went off and the red maggot single or double kept the bite coming, skimmers and bream with one bonus tench, but it was golden peg and two smashed hook length’s on the tip in the first hour proved costly and as the match was concluding my last put in resulted in a straightened hook and another missed opportunity, I’ve told Simon there’s no match next week hopefully he won’t turn up….lol

Trevor Stanley, Lake John Fishery, peg 28, 42-4-0, golden peg

and he make's this his second victory in as many days ...

Clive Bailey, Herts Fire, peg 36, 65-4-0
Clive enjoyed a victory yesterday on peg 28 with 50lb as he fished a Fire service league round at the lake so it made for good practice today as he once again introduced caster through his peg and kept himself a very busy chap all day, fishing a t 7m roach skimmers and perch were the main species but even a 17lb carp successfully landed put a smile on Clives face, he caught so many fish he did have time to nibble on his lunch

Simon Willsmore, Milo-D+A Tackle, peg 27, 58-4-0
Simon begged me for a ticket and its only because he's a nice chap and i could listen to his continual sobbing that i gave in, so Simon nuckled down and winkled out a few fish, caster and worms and not to much feed proved that even though Simon hasn't been here for a while he still remembers how its done.

A little bit of cheating as 4 bonus carp played a massive part of his weight but it was big baits for big fish as all the field leaders all managed a carp or two to boost there overall catch, Martin purchased three tins of corn from the shop in the morning and it was the long inner margins that produced the better fish

Danny Coss, Oakwood Angling, peg 13, 61-8-0

Unlucky for some but not for Danny as he makes a welcome return to the fishery since the last bank holiday, and again it was a big bait approach as Dan hair rigged a 8mm pellet and chucked to the island for one bonus put back 10lb carp and five other smaller carp and a few silvers for good measure

Geoff Foreman, J P Tackle, peg 30, 49-0-0

Two carp for Geoff as he like everyone else struggled with the change in weather and the approach tha'ts needed to keep the fish coming but a solid days sport for this time of the year

Unfortunately I dont have a pic of this weeks champ so instead you get a chance to see the man behind the weekly match reports, pictured above Graham Cook (Cookie), displays a fine catch of his own, thanks for all your help this year mate a great help... pictured next to Cookie is the man himself Trevor baby Stanley son of Mick as you can see over the moon at having his picture taken...lol

1st. Trevor Stanley, Lake John peg 27, 95-4-0
As the nights draw in and the temperatures drop, the back bank starts to come into its own. This peg won last week and Trevor wasn’t about to let a good draw slip through his hands. Corn fished long, followed by a switch to the short pole line for two 10lb+ carp, bream and tench. Well done Trev.
2nd. Keith Cross, Edmonton & Tottenham, Golden Peg 38, 73-4-0
Cracking net of fish this, maggot to the hook for roach, perch, tench, bream and NO carp. Would have been riding off into the sunset with 200 quid if it weren’t for the spoilsport on peg 27.
Jt 3rd. Colin Bartlett, Lake John, Golden Peg 9, 69-0-0
Jt 3rd. Alec Roberts, Middy-Lake John, Peg 14, 69-0-0
These two enjoyed their own customary duel and for a change neither had to part with a £1 coin. Mind you Alec did resort to cheating with TWO carp.

1st. Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 27, 127-0-0
They all tried to distract him today. One angler opposite even tried jumping in the lake. But Martin’s in the zone right now. 107lb of prime bream and tench, boosted by two bonus 10lb carp. Pellet and corn, fished long and short on the pole.
2nd. Bill Reynolds, Lake John, peg 34, 100-8-0
A very popular and worthy framer, Bill turns up every week and never moans. Two carp helped to boost his weight today, but he’s just as happy catching silver fish. He’s also rather good at it !
3rd. Alec Roberts, Middy-Lake John, Peg 32, 99-8-0
Just shy of the magical ton, Al knows all about this peg having had 140lb out of it last week. Think he even used the same pole rig ! One 10lb carp and a bulging net of bream and tench.
4th. Mark Parris, Lake John, peg 3, 93-8-0

It’s ‘carp soup’ on the Big Lake as Mark Parris posts another win

19 fished

1st. Mark Parris, Lake John, peg 36, 136-8-0
The unseasonably warm weather had the carp munching big time. Mark banked seven in total, five monsters plus two just shy of the 10lb limit. Another 60lb of bream and tench also took a liking to his corn hookbait fished short over micro pellet.
2nd. Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 14, 76-8-0

Martin also got amongst the carp, catching late on, close in under his feet. With the island obstructing his view he had no idea that Mark was well ahead and like a true pro kept on right to the end.

3rd. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra, Peg 3, 58-4-0
Matt had a frustrating match. Nothing on the feeder early on, so he fished for roach and rudd. A swap back to the feeder late on yielded a 10lb+ carp, and a bream and tench, both around the 4lb mark.
4th. Roy Makins, GOT Baits, Peg 27, 55-0-0

Alec Roberts rips it up big time, putting over 100lb in the net in the last three hours.

15 fished

1st. Alec Roberts, Middy-Lake John, peg 32, 140-0-0
By 1pm Mr Middy had winkled out a modest 40lb fishing maggot out in front. All the time patiently feeding and building the right-hand margin with corn and pellet. When he eventually tried it, it was solid. Two monster carp capped at 10lb each, and a shed load of bream and tench caught in the deep water off the reeds.
2nd. Bill Reynolds, Lake John, peg 10, 97-12-0
Uncle Bill tells everyone he doesn’t fish for carp, but he had three 10lb+ specimens today which was just enough to see him nab second spot. Well done Billy.
3rd. Jeff Foreman, JP Tackle, Peg 33, 93-8-0
Jeff learnt his craft the hard way on the rivers and canals. He was able to draw on all that experience and put a few extra fish in the net on a day when many of the regulars struggled.
4th. Keith Cross, Edmonton & Tottenham, Peg 11, 87-8-0
5th. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra, Peg 14, 58-0-0
6th. Paul Solen, Lake John, Peg 34, 56-8-0

There wont be many days like these with clear skys and brilliant sunshine let alone 100lb hauls of silver fish as Robin gives Marky the slip on he’s golden peg…
Robin Driscoll, Andy Findlay Promotions, peg 10, 121-0-0
Robin started his day long as the temperatures fall the fish appear to be moving out into the deeper water , but it was a little twist of fate as he was shipping out he had a couple of takes and he gave the inside line a look and didn’t look back, skimmers and bream plus two bonus carp all at 5m and all on the corn.
Mark Parris, Lake John, peg 13, 101-12-0, golden peg
Mark not only missed out on the jackpot peg but he’s lost another 50p to his pal Robin, Mark stayed long and made it work claiming 70lb and ended up topping the scales at a ton, pellet and corn at 12m
Roy Makins, GOT Baits, peg 36, 90-4-0
Another solid performance from Roy, switching between long and short pole, corn to the hook
Bill Renolds, Lake John, peg 32, 82-0-0

As the autumn temperatures arrive there was only one man to get anywhere near the magical ton, and it was Amos back in the front row

1st. Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 34, 115-4-0
A busy boy all day Martin looked liked the winner from the off but he still secured the day with three bonus carp just to be on the safe side, the fish look like they are moving out on the longer 12m lines and beyond, corn and pellet kept the peg alive with the usual gathering of skimmers and bream.
2nd. Roy Makins,GOT Baits, peg 3, 84-12-0
Roy has drawn the shortest walk but in came at a price as the wind was full on all match straight into his face, but it must be said a proper days angling with only one small carp to be claimed at his true weight, skimmers, bream and a couple of tench for good measure.
3rd. Trevor Stanley, Lake John, peg 33, 64-0-0
Trev is back in Stanley corner named so because of how frequently he used to keep drawing it back in the day, a day off work allows Trevor to make a name for himself and pick up a few dollars in the process.

Paul Reddy makes it 3 in a row on this his last Wednesday of the year as now has to go back to work with no holidays left....

Paul Reddy, Lake John, peg 10, 108-0-0
Paul has done it again with his very simple corn over micro pellet on the 7m line, Paul started his match with 12lb in two bites the second fish being a 10lb carp, so you know you’re in for a good day when that happens, one more big bonus carp was secured before the final whistle to give Mr. Reddy a well-deserved third title.
Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 28, 82-4-0
More than he thought Amos also fished the corn but it was a much longer poke to 13m and he admitted after the match that he really sorted it out half way through the match, no carp just a bag of silver
Mark Parris, Lake John, peg 33, 73-8-0
Mark’s little face lit up like it was Christmas morning when he pulled this peg out of the bag he made himself dizzy with excitement in the car park as he was trying to contain his inner happiness, this peg has been on form to say the least and today Marky you made a right dogs dinner of it…..lol

Reddy, steady go as Paul leaves ‘em trailing in his wake for the second week running.

1st. Paul Reddy, Lake John, peg 32, 146-0-0
Two wins on the bounce for Paul and he is rapidly becoming THE venue expert. Pole at 7 metres with corn over pellet for one 10lb+ carp and a job load of bream and tench to 4lb.
2nd. Alec Roberts, Middy-Lake John, peg 33, 110-8-0
This peg was second last week and in the hands of Mr Middy it always spelt danger. It took a while to warm up for Al but a brilliant final 90 minutes saw him put over 50lb in the net. No cheating carp, he pushed Paul all the way but that slow start cost him
3rd. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra, Peg 12, 97-8-0
Matt took a different approach and spent most of the day chucking the feeder to the island. Nine small carp and one 10 pounder.
4th. Mark Parris, Lake John, Peg 14, 82-8-0

1st. Paul Reddy, Lake John, peg 34, 131-8-0
He’s been knocking on the door for several weeks, this time Paul drew the in-form left-hand bank. Three huge carp capped at the customary 10lb, plus bream and tench to 4lb, all caught close in on corn and meat over pellet.

2nd. Roy Makins, GOT Baits, peg 33, 103-8-0
More consistent scoring from Roy, recording another ton-plus weight. Even with his view of the winner obscured by the bankside, Roy heard enough splashing to know he was beat.
3rd. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra, Peg 3, 98-0-0
Very good performance from Matt in an unfancied peg and done the hard way with no carp.
4th. Alan Hart, Princess Alexandra, Peg 36, 81-0-0

1st. Mark Brown, Old Hatfield, peg 3, 133-8-0
The pole fished short with the customary corn fished over micro pellets for a convincing win, one 10lb+ carp returned accompanied by two bulging nets of prime bream and tench, the majority of which were around the 2-3lb mark.
2nd. Alan Hart, Princess Alexandra, peg 36, 119-8-0
Swapping between the feeder under the over-hanging island tree and pole line, Alan banked three 10lb+ carp and lost several others, good enough to secure runners up spot.
3rd. Paul Reddy, Lake John, peg 14, 116-8-0
Paul took advantage of a plum draw, ending up with one carp and bream and carp to 3lb for another pay day.
4th. Robin Driscoll, Andy Findlay Promotions, peg 39, 111-0-0

1st. Martin Amos, Sensas Angling Direct, peg 36, 112-4-0
Martin was telling everyone it was about time he won a match. But it turned out to be a close call. With two hours left he decided to try the margins and added 70lb to his weight. One carp and bream to 4lb on corn /meat to just nick it at the death.
2nd. Ernie McGregor, Lake John, peg 34, 110-8-0
The better fish, for so long in pegs 10-14, looked to have switched banks and Ernie took full advantage. Pole and corn for two 10lb+ carp, bream, tench and some wonga
3rd. Paul Reddy, Lake John, peg 13, 89-0-0
Lost count how many times Paul has framed this year. Regular and heavy feeding with pellet and corn, he amassed another impressive net.

Harold Hill’s finest is certainly on a roll. And it does not seem to matter where you put him at the moment. Three 10lb+ carp put back, he absolutely smashed it. Pole in close with corn over micro. Here’s the champ pictured winning the 50p challenge with 5th place Mark.
2nd. Paul Reddy, Lake John, peg 30, 117-14-0
Don’t be fooled this was a fantastic effort from Paul. Drawn on the unfavoured back-bank he put in a good shift, but needed more carp to have any chance of catching the winner.
3rd. Roy Makins, GOT Baits, peg 10, 117-0-0
One of the first to weigh-in, Roy fished 2+2 corn over micro all day and looked to have done enough. Three carp put-back, 80+ bream, tench and crucians. And he even managed to break the weigh-sling !

1st. Robin Driscoll, Andy Findlay Promotions, peg 9, 118-8-0
Robin once again drew well, but was aware that there were good anglers all around him. Fishing his customary short micro and sweetcorn attack he set off like a train. However, after five lost carp he looked like he’d blown it. That mighty relieved look at the weigh-in said it all.
2nd. Alec Roberts, Middy-Lake John, peg 10, 115-8-0
Like the seasoned thoroughbred he is, Alec pushed his neighbour all the way, just coming up short. Another six-metre pole and corn approach.
3rd. Roy Makins, GOT Baits, peg 32, 110-0-0
A good peg but not in the class of the right-hand bank at present, this was a surprise today and shows what a terrific shift Roy put in. Two carp for 18lb, along with two bulging nets of prime bream and tench.

He lost some, got some in and just managed to edge a very tight contest by the slimmest of margins. Fishing the pole against the rushes, Martin got run ragged a couple of times but 65lb of silver fish plus three carp capped at the obligatory 10lb saw him over the line.
2nd. Mathew Hart, Princess Alexandra, peg 36, 95-0-0
Matt fished another tidy match, but afterwards reflected on his decision to sit it out on the feeder, rather than filling in on roach and bits. That last hour probably cost him but still a nice pay day.
3rd. Paul Reddy, Lake John, peg 13, 88-0-0
These three pegs – 12, 13, and 14 – have been regular framers. Today it was Paul Reddy who won the battle to scoop bronze medal.

2nd. Mark Parris, Lake John, Peg 3, 95-8-0

Here is Marky looking so pleased with himself just pipping the top spot with two lost carp but it didn’t matter. Fishing corn over micro pellet at 5 metres and down the edge Mark put together a tidy bag of bream and tench to 4lb.
2nd. Rob Wright, Maver-Image, peg 34, 80-8-0
With only two other anglers to weigh in, it looked like Rob had done enough for top spot. Two 10lb+ put back carp and two bulging nets was only good enough for silver medal this week.
3rd. Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, Golden Peg 32, 74-0-0

Bream and tench to 4lb without a carp in sight, pictured above is Uncle Ray still supporting the fishery well into his 70's and still loving the match banter every Saturday and Wednesday three cheers for uncle Ray, hip hip horay..... repeat twice more
2nd. Dennis Jarvis, Hollow Angling, peg 36 98-4-0
A couple of practice sessions on the lake and Den is well and truly rocking. Dump-fed his pole line and went out on the feeder for the first hour. When he put the rod down and went over it, the swim was solid. His odds have just shortened for his club match on this lake over the weekend.

With new backing this week, Martin repaid the faith of his new sponsors in winning style. One 10lb+ carp with a shed load of bream and tench, all sneaked in under his feet with no giveaway splash. He even treated the boys to his customary “that was more than I thought” line at the weigh-in.

2nd. Paul Solen, Lake John, peg 33 93-4-0

There’s a new kid on the block as Jeff Foreman finally hits form.

1st. Jeff Foreman, JP Tackle, peg 33 79-4-0
Jeff has been fishing most Wednesdays, each time watching what’s going on around him and improving his catch rate. Today he executed the perfect match, fishing the pole with corn and pellet for bream and tench to 4lb, crucian carp to 2lb and the odd 8lb carp.
2nd. Ken Farrell, Lake John, peg 32 67-0-0
We’re thinking of naming this part of the lake Farrell Corner, such is the regularity that this man has been drawing here recently. Unlike two days ago, there were no carp but with the wind continuing to blow up this end bream and tench a plenty.

1st. Steve Clark, Maver-Image VDE peg 13 122-04-0
The sweetcorn express did his usual trick, catching short on the pole for this year's first 100lb+ weight. Two keepnets full of prime bream and tench. Well done sir, as you can see hottest day of the year and Clarky is well wrapped up, or could this be an old picture, mmmh I wonder...

2nd. Alan Hart, Princess Alexandra peg 36 116-00-0
Another solid performance from Mr Hart, although in all honesty he would have won if it wasn't for a quiet first hour on the feeder and a lost carp on the pole.

3rd. Trevor Stanley, Lake John peg 3 77-00-0
This is currently one of the few pegs that can compete with the flyers 13 & 14. Trev fished the ledge, both sides, but by his own admission afterwards said he should have fed more.

Two Steves go to war as the Golden Peg money tumbles

1st. Steve Sams, Lake John, GP peg 3 57-12-0
Facing all day into a headwind, Steve S took one look and decided to fish short, presenting pellet just past the rushes for a lovely bag of bream, tench and roach, and a bumper Golden Peg pay day.

2nd. Steve Fisher, Lake John peg 26 50- 08-0
One 10lb+ carp and a busy day, Steve F did it slightly differently, fishing caster on the pole to the vacant peg 25. You could see the boys willing the scales to go round a bit further and save the GP cash.

3rd. Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle, peg 4 50-08-0
On a normal day you would draw this peg and think about going home, not so today, the guvnor had a slow start fishing maggot on the pole at 13m but a quick change to pellet done the biz.

Epping based Paul Solen slips a day off in the brilliant sunshine and takes the full glory...

1st. Paul Solen, Lake John, peg 14 54-00-0
The chap does well as he is not a regular to the open scene and not only a great victory but sitting next to Gary Miller on peg 13 and giving him a little drop made the day a whole lot sweeter, but it was a carp that clinched it for Paul who fished pellet on the short pole line all match, skimmers and even the odd tench bulked the final weight on the scales.

2nd. Gary Miller, Maver-Image-VDE, peg 13 51-08-0
You can't put a good man on a good peg and not see a result, the Miller Man was on the peg that came second last week and Paul was on the peg that won it so its fair to say that there are a few fish in this area at the moment, Gary caught both at 6m and 13m and pellet again was the preferred hook bait on a day the fish were a little out of sorts weather it was the result of that full moon last weekend or not but the fish were not tucking in like you would expect.

3rd. Mick Scanlan, Oakwood Angling, peg 8 41-00-0
Mick maintained his winter tactics and was bang on the money because these fish didn't want loads of fuss, it was more a case of drip feeding than giving it to em, a very tidy bag of silvers.

No guessing where the fish were this week.

1st. Clive Bailey, LFB peg 14 83-00-0
With first and second drawn next to each other, it was Clive who had the better start catching on pellet on the long pole line, before switching to 3m with micro and corn for one 10lb carp, tench to 4lb and bream up to 3lb.

2nd. Roy Makins, Got Baits peg 13 68-04-0
Roy fished a similar match and towards the end was out catching Clive, but it was not quit enough. More beer tokens for Mr Makins.

3rd. Alan Hart, Princess Alexandra peg 29 42-00-0
Having returned from his hols looking as brown as a berry, Al made the most of a back-bank peg to pinch the bronze medal.
