This is it 12 weeks have past six rounds count for the pairs
total and it's the final decider…
And its Mark Johnson who takes a well-deserved victory as the league ends Mark shows his form and on this performance Mark recons he's ready for next years league, well done Marky…he who dares and all that.
Mark Johnson, Lake John, peg 29, 45-12-0, herts 26pts
On the coldest fishing day of the winter it was a miracle that there were any fish caught at all, Mark fished the long pole with pellet and made every bite count and with the wind off his back it has to be said the presentation was a little bit better than some other areas, a proper job Mark and you give that other Anchor member Amos a tuning in the process.
Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 3, 42-0-0, herts, 25pts standing in for Alan Spooner
Amos could only manage 42lb from this peg blimey is that all, just proving again that pellet is still God and he is a hard man to beat on this lake.
Darren Clark, Lake John-Angling Direct, peg 10, 33-12-0, herts, 24pts
Darren gets himself out of jail with a giant from the deep and it was foul hooked and it was just on the whistle how about that for a few points then, I said to Darren if you can teach that trick I will sell the tickets for him and be his agent, you lucky git….

Sunday 26 th Febuary 2012
Round Five and its all to play for as the final round is only days away, Milo champs me and Scott many years ago, ahh those were the days....
Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle, peg 3, 43-0-0, essex, 26pts
On what can only be described as a summer's day, the sun shone bright but the water was cold and the fish just didn't want to play ball it was a case of forcing the fish to feed, and by keeping busy with the pellet long and the caster short it was a simple process of collecting as many fish as possible, pellet and skimmers long at 14m and rudd and roach on the caster at 4m up in the water, I just wish Vandervliet was here!, but he did text me from Tenerife to find out how his standing was doing so I just told him a pack of lies, it will keep him guessing until he comes back, sad git texting to find out about a fishing match while he's on holiday
Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 29, 40-4-0, herts, standing in for Chris Vandervleit, 25pts
Martin Took the 4mm expander pellet added the magic juice (Fish Guts), and potted in loads of bait and caught loads of skimmers and bigger bream as well, if we had a golden peg he would probably have been on that as well, this is how he's run of form is going at the moment.
Colin Fuller, Lake John, peg 4, 36-8-0, herts, 24pts
Me and Colin had a nice match catching almost fish for fish at one point, Col caught some better fish shorter on the maggot and worm at 9m as well as catching on the pellet long at 13m, a close match mate most enjoyable.

Sunday 19th Febuary 2012 Milo winter league round 4
A fine attendance and it was yet another fine performance from young Charley Clark as she takes all the glory today in front of a very high standard of angler, go girl…
Charley Clark, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 27, 20-4-0, herts 26pts
Pellet on the pole line for the young 14yr old angling
starlet, I hope there is a decent sponsor reading this, skimmers and bream on the 14m pole line gently drip feeding micro
pellet though a kinder pot, she collected £120 for her troubles and received a
standing ovation, a blinding performance young Charley, Bob Nudd has been on the phone asking if he can have a days fishing with Charley Clark, I have of course booked him a day as I'm now acting as your agent, I've got Miller and Vandervleit booked on as well, lol
Chris Vandervleit, Maver-Image-Bowlers, peg 11, 20-0-0, essex 25pts

Just to add to the suspense of this very close run league, there has been a stewards on a result in the second round, and it's a result of father and daughter Scott and Charley both winning section and there was a mix up with there points, my mistake....
I enclose a pic of this round for you all to see, I had given Charley 22pts and not the 18pts that it states on the draw sheet, sorry Char, this really does make things interesting, it means 4pts come off Paul Law and Charley Clark bringing there points down to 128 putting them into second place, two other amendments were Steve Arno and Micky Wallis gain 1pt extra due to a miss count and Mark Johnson and Tony Cassidy also gain an extra point because of a miss count, its important we get these right now so if you see anything let me know chaps, it might be a friendly league but boy is it serious, fish on!!

Sunday 22nd January 2012 Milo-Lake John practice round
I'm sure you will agree its about time I got a bit of credit for yet another fantastic performance and this time no sign of my old mate Chrissy V in the main frame, ahhh wot a shame, lol, that's a quid back to me this week, and look at this pic ave I still got it or wot, lol ...
Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle, peg 27, 50-8-0, essex
I took a ground bait and maggot approach to my peg after a
recent dip in temperature but remained bite less so a quick switch to the 4mm
expander pellet with a cocktail of micro pellet and 4mm expander loose fed
through the biggest pole cup brought the peg to life, the skimmers would only
get a looking when the bigger bream stopped feeding so topping up the peg very frequently
seemed to keep the bigger fish interested, and you know your luck is in when
the last bite of the match is a foul hooked bream of 5lb, and it doesn't put up
too much of a fuss and makes it safely to the landing net, giving just enough
to secure a win and beating Chris vandercheat as well, love it, lol, but this was only practice week and it all counts next week for real...
Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 29, 47-0-0, herts
Led the match for the early part also catching on the 4mm expander pellet and it has to be said the match was nip and tuck for the most part and it was the lucky last bite that was just enough, no-one like's to see that Martin

Chrissy V is a CHEAT as he sit's it out for the big carp and as you can see he shows no remorse as he collects yet another pound from me, he is really starting to get on my nerves now...lol
Chris Vanderveilt, Bowlers-Maver-Image, peg 34, 42-4-0, 26pts
I present before you a carp angler dressed in green, he has gone so far down in my expectations as he lowers himself to cheat to win the match fishing hair rigged corn, and landed three carp so you do the sums without the carp he would have probably been last lol, when he finally began to fish the match properly he caught a few silver fish on the maggot over groundbait, loads of points and a dollar off of me again, well done my old mate
Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle, peg 10, 25pts
I fished a proper match, skimmers on the pellet without cheating, Chris is a CHEAT
Martin Amos, Sensas-Angling Direct, peg 35, 34-8-0, 24pts (standing in for Colin Tasker)
Martin got into his match late and if we would have fished an extra hour he probably could have taken first place the fish just kept coming in the last hour

Keith Needham, Harrow Postals, peg 33, 24-8-0, herts
Good to see my old mucker Keith taking some coin off the old chaps as he makes a welcome return to the Lake John winter series, sneaking a few fish on the expander pellet on probably the best peg in England at the moment, again my words, what a peg to draw, and Keith claims enough fish slipped the hook to win the match...

Steve Arno, Redbridge Lakes, peg 36, 33-8-0 26pts, essex
Steve Arno put's in a top carp anglers performance as he sit's it out on the tip waiting for the big carp to arrive, and arrive they do, Mr Arno temp's the carp with a sweetcorn and micro pellet treat on the tip, and it worked the match was won in the first half, and in the second half it was his close pal Steve Thorn that was holding his hand out for any spare dollar that was going as they bust up there winnings each week. Steve Thorn has had some terrible sad news as his Mum passed away on Christmas morning our thoughts are with you and your family mate, from all at Lake John x.

Sunday 13 th Top Lake 1st round of the Milo pairs winter league

Chrissy V takes the honours this week but he didn't have it all his own way as he was chased hard all the way by yours truely...
Chris Vandervliet, Bowlers-Bait Tech, peg 35, 27-8-0 26pts,
With the whole lake iced over for the second day in a row, Chris took to breaking out his peg and he even started mine as pictured above(he doesn't know I took this picture of him being my bitch), what a nice chap, but as the whistle blew the gloves were off as we both went for it and being pegged next to each other the banter was as good as the fishing. Ground bait, worm and maggot cupped in on the hour, a great result considering the conditions and proving once again what a lucky angler Chris really is, cos I was watching him and he aint very good let me tell ya, but alas he scoops victory and takes a fiver off me as well, well done mate
Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle, peg 34, 25-10-0 25pts
I fished a blinder and if the ice hadn't reformed mid match I'm sure there would have been a great big jucey picture of me at the top of the page, for me it was long pole to the edge of the ice and feeding very heavy about 8 balls of crumb laced with maggot, pinkie and micro's,
Gary Miller, Maver-Image-VDE, peg 10, 18-8-0 24pts
Gary had a terrible start and didn't have a fish until 2pm, but he worked his magic and well you know he is always going to winkle a few fish out, maggot and ground bait

Milo winter league Sunday 11th December 2011 practice round
Go Go Mr Joe gives em a lesson in carp fishing and would you believe the day before the lake was completely frozen, but that didn't stop Joe catching four carp
Joe Lonergan, Harrow Herrings, peg 13, 38-12-0
A fantastic result for my mate Mr Joe, a solid performance as he started his match on the tip to rest the pole lines but he just carried on catching on the tip, caster to the hook and a good way from the island margins he just couldn't stop catching he was like a machine as you could hear him across the lake saying " I've got another carp on", a well deserved victory Joe proud of ya, you should have saved it for next week and you could have had all them lovely points as well, you carp catching cheat
Paul Solen, Lake John Fishery, peg 31, 37-12-0
Another one that started on the tip to rest his pole
lines but just never really had to return to the pole One carp and a net full
of skimmers, maggot to the hook
Alan Spooner, Lake John Fishery, peg 30, 26-4-0
Again it was mainly tip work and two carp for Al who does
tend to slip a few carp in during his winter league appearance

So this is the start of Milo winter league at Lake John, and this time last year it was ice breakers at the ready, but the mild weather continues and the fishing is all good for this time of the year....
Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle, peg 13, 56-0-0
Back on the seatbox for the winter series and I have started off with a very pleasent win, with a strong field of anglers it was always going to be anyones match, after cupping in caster and micro's on both pole lines at 8m and 14m it was a hour on the tip with maggot to the hook some times single, some times double and there were a few skimmers just to boost the peg to life before the pole lines started to produce skimmers, bream and even a 18lb carp couldn't resist the varied caster, maggot and worm hook bait, switching the hook bait seemed to be the way forward on the day, and I managed to retrieve a golden nugget for my pal Chrissy V................look at my pound, has anyone noticed how much taller i am compared to Chris and he was on tip toe, lol
Gary Miller, Maver-Image-VDE, peg 8, 36-12-0
Truely one of the best anglers of his era, there's not alot he hasn't won but today he settle's for second spot and the first to congratulate what was obviously an outstanding performance by the owner, lol, sorry just got carried away........ Gazza tried maggot, worm and caster but nothing was working so he pumped some 4mm expanders and got his head down and got on with the business of catching some fish, roach, skimmers and bream were being caught at a huge rate once he got started, class act
Geoff Lockwood, MAT'S Tackle, peg 28, 35-8-0
Geoff makes a welcome return to the lake since last years winter league and with his long pole approach with maggot to the hook he enjoy's a well deserved placing this week, kinder potting maggot through his peg each put in this was a great return result, welcome back Geoff

Winter League 2010/11
Results for Sunday 20th February 2011
My turn this week to grab headlines, about time is all I can say....
1st. Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle, peg 11 54-02-0, 26pts Essex
A slow start on the tip with no bites in the first hour and a switch to pellet on the pole line produced
a few bites at both 6m and13m,and they were good size bream up to 4lb, lucky old Colin.
2nd. Scott Clark, Lake John-Angling Direct, peg 38 43-08-0, 25pts, Herts
The big man was out of the blocks and away like an Olympian catching skimmers non stop with the odd bream and bonus tench, all pellet fish Scott fished three lines, two long at 13m 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock and one line short 6m, a great days fishing.
3rd. Steve Sams, Lake John, peg 13 38-08-0, 24pts, Herts
Sams was a standing for the league today and it was BIG Barry Oliver that was grateful of the points, Steve has been away from the fishing scene for a while but it proved that he still knows what he's doing, starting on the tip there was a run of bream to 2lb give Steve an easy 10lb in the first hour and he looked a big threat all match, welcome back mate.
