With half the year already past us by, where does the time go and the world cup is also well under way...

Top Lake :
There are plenty of big carp on the move and it seems that if you want a Lake John biggie then its the surface you need to target there has been three 30lb fish in the past six weeks to this method the smaller 15lb to 20lb fish are found in the island margins or under your feet where you can get the bait down in large quantities, big volumes of bait will attract big fish granted you might have to get through the silver fish and tench but the harder you work at your peg the better the results, club matches and open match results are soaring to the dissy heights way over the 100lb mark and section wins are a mear 90lb these are huge hauls of silver fish that will keep any pleasure angler happy.
The feeder is no where near as effective as marginal float fishing and let me tell you if you dont feed the peg the fish will just move on down the bank to the next angler that is putting a bait little and often, meat is the bait of choice and will catch all the biggest of the species, maggot and other smaller baits will see the young stock making a pest of themselves.

Bottom Lake:
Just before the big freeze at the end of the year we had a massive re-think on how this lake could be improved and it was a decision to get rig of the bigger carp and replace them with skimmmers and bream, well what a difference this has made and this has brought the lake to life with open matches being won with anything from 50lb to 80lb on a Saturday and the same weights in half that time on a Thursday evening, the balance is now more even so you can start your match fishing for bites and end up with massive bags of mixed fish and them carp always turn up and make themselves known, this is probably the best decision we have made on the Lake in years now we have two lakes that fish very consistant and very even.

Summary:
Its time to up the feed all commercial fishery's have plenty of stock and its fair to say you can over feed this time of the year....just think about what your doing.
