Ken Farrell having no luck clearing his peg and he was the only one to attend the Wednesday open match and with ice 3 inches thick Ken's ice breaker was just no match...

Winter is now well and truly here and all we are waiting for now is the cold weather because the temperatures are still very good for this time of the year...

A winter golden tench for the Fish to Win champion 2009 Alec Roberts And again with a trophy and a cheque for £3000, well done Alec
Opening the gates at 7.00am and closing at 4.30pm
Top Lake:
The 25th October we hosted the largest pay day of any match held in the
south and 20 finalists battled it out for the top prize of £3000 there were some
big names on the bank from the world of match angling including Fish O Mania
finalist it was always going to be a hard call but in the build up to the match
Al had shown a very consistent run of form, Maggot and caster was the preferred
bait of choice and as calm as you like Mr. Middy started to put a few fish
together and finished the match with an impressive 74lb beating the nearest
rival by nearly 20lb. The Carp have been making reels scream all month and are
really piling on their weight before the inevitable slow down for the colder
weather, the island margins are a massive no, no as the water levels have still
not recovered since the long drought of the past summer if you splash the island
you will be only been fishing in inches of water, pellet is always a good chuck
with a flavoured dip to give you the edge corn and maggot will be the baits that
produce a few bites also, general fishing and pleasure days maggot and caster in
the inner margins while the water is still coloured will get the big perch and
roach and a surprise tench or two just like Alec did in the Fish to Win final
last month.

Bottom Lake:
Dicky Carr congratulates 12 year old Charley Clark as she gave him a lesson
in fishing last Saturday the only consolation was that Dicky's team Arsenal beat
the Spurs 3-0 that pleased him, a dip in match weights in the past few weeks but
the water is still very very low and the sooner it starts to rain the better I
say maggot is getting the most action all other bait result in a long wait but
the pellet and the corn will produce the bigger fish.
Summary:
Winter is here but the mild weather will result in huge catches, and the big
carp are here too.
