Mr Fuller rides into town and nicks the silver
12 fished
1st. Colin Fuller, Old Town Angling,
peg 33 46-00-0
Another cold overnight snap and a draw in the slightly deeper water means
that you’ve always got half a chance. But, you’ve still got to do it right. And
that’s exactly what Colin did. Pellet on the pole at 8m for a decent net of
silvers with the odd bonus bream making a guest appearance.
2nd. Dennis Lipscombe, Oakwood Angling,
peg 3 35-08-0
Dennis was one of the early pioneers of the summer meat attack that made all
the headlines last year. Today he showed his all-round versatility with a 6mm
over 4mm pole and pellet approach. Good to see the lessons all those years ago
with Jack Charlton are finally starting to pay off.
3rd. Clive Bailey, Herts Fire,
peg 36 27-04-0
This is another in-form angler at the moment, second last week and in the
frame again today. Single maggot and groundbait feeder did the damage this time,
cast just short of the island for one 10lb+ carp and a bag of silvers.

Gordon Bullock finds form and even finds two bonus carp....
16 fished
1st. Gordon Bullock, Terrapins-Redbridge Lakes,
peg 11 51-10-0
Gordon restrained from using the 17m pole today and fished a more relaxed 14m with maggot and ground bait Gordy filled the peg up with feed and then
dropped the feeder out towards the island where there were a couple of carp laying in wait, a great start to the highest scoring match of the new year,
but it wasn't going to be all his own way as the Image Captain a couple of pegs up made himself very busy....
2nd. Steve Clark, Maver-Image,
peg 13 49-00-0
No carp for Steve just a bag of skimmers to start and then the bigger bream moved in and stayed and if the match was to have lasted one bite longer
Clarky could have taken the glory, maggot and ground bait.
3rd. Mick Scanlan, Oakwood Angling,
peg 38 38-14-0
Mick is back on the Wednesday scene and with his pellet and long pole approach Mick has had a pleasant day on the bank even the sun was shining on
us would you believe.

23 Fished
1st. Clive Bailey, Herts Fire,
peg 13 39-02-0
This man has a great run of form and taking down several names along the way
the very modest fireman has approached the Wednesday scene with a two pint
caster approach at 6m and he just plod's away catching everything in the the
peg, this week it looked like the wheels might have fallen off but Clive had a
great last hour catching big bream and even a last cast carp just for good
measure, lucky old unlucky peg 13 great victory Clive well done mate...
2nd. Alan Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital,
peg 29 37-02-0
Alan fished the feeder for majority of the match as the gust of the wind was
so spiteful poles were always going to be in danger of breaking, dead red
maggots to the hook and micro pellet in the feeder made for a busy match,
skimmers and one bonus carp
3rd. Dicky Carr, Drennan,
peg 34 36-04-0
Dicky has finally drew a peg he wanted and again spent most of his time on
the feeder as the pole was impossible to hold past 6m, one bonus carp and
silvers for the England Veteran.

Image Captain Steve Clark takes his first victory on only his second appearance this winter...
18 fished
1st. Steve Clark, Maver -Image,
peg 27 38-08-0
You
wouldn't have put this peg at the top of the draw list except for the fact the
wind was off his back and presentation would be a bit easier, the wind had a
cold bite to it and even though the sun was out it could have been warmer, long
pole for Steve as he scratched his way to the top of the leader board maggot and
caster and a very careful approach, skimmers and silvers.
2nd.
John Young, Lake John,
peg 34 31-08-0
Maggot for
John and again careful feeding just to keep the fish coming, its not about bonus
fish now just about keeping the bites coming a stiff left to right cross wind
kept the long pole out of action but the fish are still happy to feed close in
on the 6m lines.
3rd. Ken Farrell, Browning-Lake John,
peg 36 30-08-0
You cant keep him
off this peg at the moment and the waggler master made it work again, 6mm pellet
and positive feeding is always the Farrell approach and it keeps him in the
frame again this week, skimmers and the odd bonus bream.

20 Fished
1st. Ken Farrell, Browning-Lake
John,
peg 34 63-08-0
Ken
has made the waggler work for the past couple of weeks now and has been netting
an average of 60lb per visit, at last all his efforts pay off fishing 6mm
expander fed through a catapult and either 6mm pellet or corn to the hook Ken
kept the fish flowing steady all match bream and tench mainly with a bonus
10lb'er.
2nd. Clive Bailey, Herts Fire,
peg 13 54-12-0
Clive has had a
great year and sitting next to the Fish to Win champion 2009 on the same peg he
earned his title and £3k this was a true test of ability Clive fed caster all
match at 6m and had bream and skimmers feeding very well indeed, no carp for
Clive made for a good close match with Mr Middy and with great skill and ability
the battle was won as Clive pipped Alec by just a few pounds, and as the results
were in Alec was the first to congratulate the Hertfordshire fire man.
3rd. Alec Roberts, Middy-Lake John,
peg 14 51-12-0
Fish to Win Champion 2009 had
a great match on Sunday and to draw the same peg Wednesday was amazing, but how
the mighty fall as he received a reality check the fire man next door matched
Alec fish for fish, Alec fished maggot and caster and was full of admiration for
Clive as he pipped him to second spot very sporting Mr Middy you the man.

25 Fished
1st John Coster, Fox Match,
peg 32 80-00-0
This peg has been
holding form for a few weeks now and the right angler will always make a good
peg pay off, well my pal Bomber put in the leg work to get this peg producing
and it was 14m up the peg to the inner margin with corn on the hook that gave
the big man a great early start with carp all over the peg John kept looking on
the shorter pole lines but with no real results so the margin line became the
most productive peg with three other 10lb plus carp hooked and released making
this a great result on the week before the big £3,000 final which will be hosted
on the top lake this Sunday 25th where 20 angler will be fishing for a great pre
Christmas prize, its fair to say if the carp didn't show this would have been a
completely different result, well done big man.
2nd. Ken
Farrell, Browning-Lake John,
peg 36 64-12-0
Ken has fished his
trusted waggler and once again has had good results with corn to the hook and
loose feeding 6mm pellet he has been a busy man but this is also a story of the
fish that got away and although Ken landed two bonus carp of 10lb he lost many
more and if only he could have landed the one's that got
away..................if only.
3rd. Robbie Taylor, ?,
44-12-0
Robbie has fished this lake for only the second time and his
long journey from Croydon is now paying off as he prepares for the biggest pay
day of the year in the Fish to Win 3K final, a top draw for Robbie and a steady
performance three pole lines fed with corn and pellet, skimmers and bream with a
couple of small carp in the net and a bonus let go mirror carp...

Mat Hart still on form with his long range feeder and victory is always sweet with the golden peg as well....
20 Fished
1st. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra
Hospital,
peg 34 87-00-0
Mat has been in the top six every week for weeks and it makes you wonder if he
has been waiting for the golden peg all a long before he snatched the victory,
an early look on the feeder started things for Mat but when the long and short
pole line seemed very slow Mat decided that he best stay on the tip and try his
luck, the worm has been very productive of late but it was a single grain of
corn with a short 6" hook link that done the damage, micro pellet and crumb in
an open end feeder and the fish just kept coming, plenty of skimmers and two
small net able carp + a big bonus 10lb catch and release and a £250 pay day in
with the deal.
2nd. Alec Roberts, Middy-Lake John,
peg 29 70-08-0
As the Fish to Win final approaches all eyes are on Roberts and the thing
with this lake that alot of people don't know, you would draw this peg another
day and really not fancy it but the wind had changed and the fish just move
round, Alec kept buzzing in the margins early and moved on to his longer 6m and
13m lines after the first hour, pellet to the hook and a careful as you go feed
approach but its not winter yet and you still need a bit of bait to keep the
fish in your peg, one bonus carp for Mr. Middy and two more that let go + a
great day on the silvers.
3rd. Ken Farrell, Browning-Lake John,
peg 36 66-00-0
Ken had a great match with no carp getting in the way and for all those Fish
to Win finalist reading this Ken caught all match on the waggler so you tell me
the best method at the moment three different style in the frame, Ken loose fed
6m expander pellet and a grain of corn to the hook and he got soaked because he
couldn't put his brolley up bless him...

Bill has only just joined our fellowship this year and it was a great
pleasure to see Bill take the full honours this week after a couple of near
misses in the pass, a lovley peg at the draw and old man Bill sets off to his
peg and couldn't wait for the proceedings to be begin, expander pellet to the
hook and a steady flow of feed kept Billy ahead of the field from the off there
was no room for error as the pack were close behind, two small carp for the net
and a bag of skimmers and a bonus green tench.
2nd. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital, peg 30
51-00-0
Still showing great form Mat was chasing hard, it was the longest chuck of
the feeder splashing the island that gave Mat another pay day, micro pellet
ground bait in the feeder with worm to the hook, all things silver.
3rd. Danny Coss, Lake John,
peg 11 47-08-0
He cant get away from this peg and I think he is starting to like it as well
feeder towards the island and a bag of small carp up to 4lb and a less
productive pole line was enough to collect some coin, worm to the hook.

1st. Clive Bailey, Herts Fire,
peg 14 93-12-0
A bit of a carp dominated match this week as Clive hooked and landed five of
the catch and release 10lb bonus fish, only 43lb of bits to go with them but it
was a sweet victory all the same and he soon celebrated with a banana and an
apple like he does every match win or loose, corn over micro pellet at 6m.
2nd. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital, peg 32
68-00-0
Mat has another great day on the lake framing again with his worm approach
on the pole and micro pellet in the feeder and worm to the hook on a short under
arm chuck, mixed fish without any carp meant Mat was always going to be off the
pace as the bonus carp are really dominating the top placings at the moment.
3rd. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,

I sat next to Malcolm last week and he gave me a lesson in how to catch carp
well this week he gave Amos a lesson on the next peg along with 21 of our anglers,
just casting to the over hang of the willow on the island with his ground bait
feeder and worm to the hook he had five returned carp plus a couple that were in
the net, a well travelled angler Malcolm has fitted into the Lake John scene
very well and with results like this it looks like he could be staying, very
well done mate.
2nd. Tim Horton, Pro Master,
peg 33 89-14-0
Only one carp for Tim and the rest a honest bag of fish which included 18
tench but none of them were over a pound, skimmers and jumping bream made up the
most of the total a fine performance Mr. Horton all pole work and not to far out
at 6m meat to the hook done the damage again.
3rd. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital,

and a open end feeder stuffed with micro pellets Alan has managed to keep busy
all match and just like in previous matches the big carp cant keep away and
three big brutes were scooped up and realesed for 30lb plus three other smaller
carp that were netted for the scales, golden tench and big bream kept feeding on
this gusty and blustery match...
2nd. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,
peg 7 122-08-0
Martin has been drawing this area for weeks now and to draw golden peg as
well this was a good oppotunity to go home with full pockets, alas it was a very
near miss for Amos who poled meat over micro pellet, two put back carp and a bag
of silvers.
3rd. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital, peg

Mixed it up between pole and feeder from his most disliked peg 14 and has
netted three small 8lb carp and one put back to add to his respectable bag of

Mat Hart takes victory with ease as he takes aim with his shot gun feeder and keeps law and order on this match...
21 fished
1st. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital,
peg 32 143-00-0
Firstly to explain the the shot gun feeder, it is a open end feeder on one
end and on the other it is filled in, it looks like a maggot feeder but in the
centre there is a sprung loaded internal floor that compresses when full of feed
but release's once it hit the bottom of the lake, very snazy Mat caught early on
pole down the inside edge and at short range but the fish were of no great size
so last years trick was to drop the feeder on the pole line and it was this
revised method that de the biz, tench, bream and three great big carp all around
the 20lb mark gave Mat a huge advantage, meat and corn to the hook.
2nd. Robin Driscoll, RAD Law,
Golden peg 11 114-08-0
Robin nearly had his golden peg, he has had a great match which was a carp
dominated six big ens and three that escaped but Robin stepped up his tackle to
deal with these big fish that had taken over his match, like Matthew he has
cheated his way into the frame catching these carp but fair play you have still
got to get them in, it was Halibut meat to the hook at 6m that kept em
interested, Robin said after the match, "It was my goal to break through the
100lb barrier, I am over the moon", well done Mr. Driscoll you are a fine
example of anglers that are learning there trade and putting the so called named
anglers in the shade, three cheers for
Robin............................bastard,.............. hip, hip, hooray

hook in it.

Sam was very pleased with his draw and started the match on the feeder and
his very own vitalin ground bait mix which is a carp style approach and it was
soon having a good effect, two carp netted early gave Sam a boost until he got
on his pole line at 6m and winkled out the odd bream or two but it was the
feeder with hair rigged meat and corn that kept producing the better bonus fish
and not always carp.

A great performance from this peg in conditions that were very windy we even
had a trees break on the lake the wind was that strong, 6m was the max for Mark
and a quick debrief with the Mr.Dack Mark took to his peg with optimism and he
soon got into the match with a quick run of skimmers on the deck feeding the
inner margin all match he was devastated this line didn't produce, but it didn't
matter because his 6m line had everything feeding in it, tench and two bonus
carp made the action non stop, however Mark cheated yes if you hook and land
carp your a cheat its official, and to add insult to injury he has only booked
John Nippress on for next week wot a tosser......................well done Marky

kept going as he worked his peg to the max and caught fish both up and down in
the water skimmers and bream made an early appearance as well as the odd tench
just for old times sake as the wanderer returned, you da man.

A form peg as Rob Bishop claimed second place last week from this peg, but
take nothing away from Graham as he caught fish from the off and as the day got
going the fish were in a feeding frenzy and with the slight over cast conditions
there couldn't have been any better chance to smash Mick's record weight from
last week, and smash it he did, meat at 5m and 6m up in the water, and its the
meat that is sorting out the bigger fish at one stage the wind got up and Graham
just decided to fish closer with just his top kit and the fish just kept coming,
no tench, no carp just skimmers and bream and a satisfied winner, as the final
bag of fish hit the scales the was a very well deserved round of aplause for a
job well done.

Five top the ton as Mr. Hood smash's the lake record with 172lb of silver fish....
20 Fished
1st. Micky Hood, Bowlers,
peg 38 172-04-0
This was truly a landmark day in the history of Lake John and the match
scene as the top five all topped 100lb, Micky who is not one to moan at all
about any thing started his match on the meat at 7m and hard on the bottom, it
only took 15 minutes before he realized that the fish were high in the water and
continued the rest of the match at depths of 12" to 18" loose feeding meat by
hand, this formula was the winning method last week by his mate Alec Roberts,
skimmers to start and bream started to come thick and fast with the odd tench
and crusian, after the match Micky told me that he put at least 50lb on the
scales in the last hour, what a days fishing I think its home for a lie down....
2nd. Rob Bishop, MAP,
peg 36 143-08-0
Rob did a reckie last Friday and this was the first time he had seen the
lake, so to place second on his first visit is a massive achievement, Rob and
Micky did have a team talk before the match and Rob who knows his way around the
match scene soon picked it up and was ahead of the winner up until the last hour
of the match, this Puddle Dock star will probably be booking in again is my
guess, skimmers and bream short on the 6m line and yes it was the meat again.
3rd. Graham Dack, Middy,

Off the scene for a couple of weeks this was a welcome return as Mat
admitted he has had a great days sport as he placed his second net in the water
at 1pm this was a true indication the total weight was going to be close to the
100lb, Two nets are a must this time of the year keeping fish welfare the main
priority, meat at 13m was the only way he could get a bite after trying the
closer line's that proved to be very slow, bream and tench were in good supply
along with crusian carp upto 2lb.
2nd. Alec Roberts, Middy,
peg 14 90-08-0
Second again for the 6th week on a spin, meat again this week and the ever

nice steady day at the office.

Mr Middy's Mate Graham Dack makes this a three in a row and topping the 100lb mark each time...
20 Fished
1st. Graham Dack, Middy,
peg 32 120-00-0
This is the third victory in a row making Mr Dack the lastest member of the
three in a row club and his team mate was only one peg away and he also bagged
100lb of silvers, Graham has started the past few weeks on the maggot close in
the inner margins and then progressed onto the longer 6m meat line well this
week was no different and it was probably the early fish that gave him the edge
in the closing stage of the match, pellet seemed to be a no, no so the main
effort was put on the 6m line, silvers and a few tench were readily available
and to top things off a 12lb common was the icing on the cake this is a Middy
take over.
2nd. Alec Roberts, Mr Middy,
peg 33 103-04-0
Al started the match in slow motion as did a lot of people but the Middy man
soon found his feet and managed to put a few fish together no carp for Alec but
big tench and bream were queuing nicely come the half way stage of the match,
meat blew out so the trusted 4mm expander was put to work and yet another 100lb
was put on the scales making this Alec's fifth runner up slot in as many
matches.

Last week Jay Collins topped the 100lb mark on peg 14 so there was always
going to be a fair chance the Miller man would find a few fish on this form
bank, meat treat this week again and there were plenty of bites to be had, early
part of the match the fish were there on the deck queuing for there tucker but a
slight change of feed put the fish up in the water and Gary claimed he put
nearly 40lb in the net in the last hour and a half and on golden peg as well...

Jay was here a couple of weeks ago and managed a section win with 80lb so to
break 100lb of silvers on only his second visit is great angling, mind you he
comes from the Tylers Common top men and he has taken more than his fair share
of info from the likes of Roberts and Dack, long pole on the meat caught the
bream and the tench on a top draw peg 14, well done young jay.
2nd. Alec Roberts, Middy-Lake John,

Another ton for Roberts beat fair and square, just proving that good info is
valueable and perhaps too much info can be costly, meat on the long pole.

peg 32 97-00-0
Last week Robert found a few fish in the inner margins that got him out of
trouble so with this info and a very good corner peg it was a great opportunity
to make the peg work to the max, the mandatory skimmers arrived first along with
the bream and the tench but this action soon put the carp on the feed and "Gobber",
managed to catch and release four of these huge creatures, pellet on the long
pole down the inner margin....
2nd. Gary Miller, Image-Maver-Van Den Eynde,
peg 30 94-10-0
Gary is catching a few fish at the moment and pellet seemed to out fish the
meat this week and the shorter lines didn't have the same effect as we have been
used to, Gary quickly worked it out that the fish were more comfortable at 13m
and proceeded to line em up, a short spell up in the water produced a few bites
but it was quiet right, a proper days fishing for the Miller man.
3rd. Graham Dack, Middy,
peg 11 89-04-0
The Tyler's Common champ is slowly working it all out, and this is probably
his best draw during his time at Lake John so he was always going to be up
there, If you can manage to frame in one of these match's now at the lake you
really are a worthy contender as the quality of angler has now reached an all
time high, its taken years for the likes of Graham to realise the full potential
of the lake and I think he likes it....

A regular in the winter Stu made a return visit just out of the blue on yet
another sell out match and the fishing was a little down beat to start but the
meat produced plenty of bites on all lines tench bream and skimmers not a carp
in sight, pole long and short to the inner margins.
2nd. Alec Roberts, Mr Middy-Lake John,
peg 8 73-00-0
Al has made this place his second home after the Tylers Common venue that is
on his door step, and a place he has dominated for many a match, a smart match
for Mr Middy changing from meat to pellet at the right time to keep the fish
coming, all lines were exploited to the full and the last hour on the pellet put
a massive weight boosting bag of bream together, one more fish would have had Mr
Bracey panicing, long pole.
3rd. Micky Hood, Bowlers,

What can I say about Mick he has been here for about a month and has drawn
flyers the whole time and framed nearly every week, and he has moaned every time

on the long pole early and a switch to pellet down the edge made up for lost
time netting bream and tench in the inner margins.

Mat drew peg 13 last week and this area wasn't that great, but in true Lake
John fashion you just don't know where the next match will be won from so on the
draw Mat expressed his views on what he thought was a bad draw and was even
considering going home, this as he knows is not an option when the fishing is
progressively getting this good after a great steady pattern of winter fishing,
4mm and 6mm expander pellets on the short 6m line done the biz and the financial
gain should leave enough change to purchase a huge lump of humble pie.

Ernie thought it was an April Fool when his float would just not go under
for the first two hours of the match and all around him were catching well, but
sticking with it he potted in big cup full's of micro pellet and as the match
progressed Ernie slowly began to catch the rest of the field with pellet and
corn to the hook the bigger bream to 4lb were soon in the peg in abundance, at
one point in the match 10lb was accumulated in three bites this took under 10
minutes now that's productive...
2nd. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,
peg 4 73-00-0
Back from a week in Whiteacres Martin soon wanted to forget that and got
straight back into the action and found early on in the match that the better

pellets.

This peg was catching the brunt of the gusting winds and John had almost no
chance of fishing the long pole, so John pursued a shorter line just right of
his peg and a longer line down the bank in the inner margin, pellet was the hook
bait for the early part of the match but switching hook bait is key to bigger
fish and John knows this so a switch to corn over a bed of micro pellet kept
bigger bream coming and two big carp were added to his total by the mid way mark
one cracked his pole and made for a careful retrieve, just the sort of luck you
need on these open match's sometimes, a great days fishing on not such a great
day...
2nd. Gary Miller, Van Den Eynde-Fox,
peg 11 72-04-0
Fishing the feeder for the first hour the tip was busy and kept going round
skimmers were queing up but this was only ever going to be a brief method as Mr.
Miller knows matches are always going to be won on the pole at the moment at
least, a change at 11am produced a busy spell of bites which maintained for the
most of the match and the bait was a real mixture of corn, pellet and even meat
created fish, no carp but a lost tench of 4lb popped the hook at the net in the
final minutes of the match cost Miller the first place...

odd better fish in previous weeks, so another victory on a glorious spring day
but this was one of the closest match's of all...
2nd. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital,
peg 3 54-04-0
Mat likes this peg and not having packed the usual caster required, Mat had
to devise a new method of bagging the better fish that gather on the inner reed
margin, Meat was the answer and after a disastrous and untidy start losing a
carp short and snagging rigs Mat had to compose himself and re-tackled he fished
6m in open water and has had an amazing match skimmers and bream were plentiful,
this was a great performance today and a real example of how quick you can build
a weight when those bigger bream drift over your feed.

Amos blew out on this peg on Sunday which was the last round of the winter
league and this down turn of form cost him the series so I went into the peg
with a little apprehension, potting in some 4mm and micro on the 13m line the
small skimmers were soon on the feed but it was the big ens that I needed so a
much shorter 7m line with micro's 4mm's and this time corn to the hook sorted
out the better fish in the last half of the match, even tench were feeding with
the bigger bream, so I ended up beating Mr. Middy by a 1lb and earned an extra
50p.

was the early action on the pole this week that secured Steve another win, first
bite on the 16m pole netted Clarky a skimmer soon followed by a 18lb carp, yes a
carp unbelievable in this weather but the 4mm pellet was the hook bait whilst it

didn't jump on the hook but formed an orderly queue, and he had an honest bag of

Ice covered gary's peg for the early part of the match and has probably cost
him a place or two pinkie and ground bait were doing the business on one of
Gary's least favourite pegs, skimmers and roach on the short pole line.

Ice has gone and it has been replaced by ice cold rain water so the catch rates are still a little slow...

1st. Steve Clark, Maver-Image-Van den Eynde,
peg 38 26-04-0
Steve hasn't been here since before Christmas so this was a little present
to himself a good form peg lately and Steve only needs a slight indication as to
the current method and he's away, catching steady all match on the long pole and
pellet it was very much a fish a chuck all day, skimmers and roach, welcome back
Clarky.
2nd. Dennis Lipscombe, Oakwood Angling,
peg 10 24-10-0
"Mucker", is Den's little catch phrase and as i was drawn next to him today
I was getting it in good volume, Den stuck to his 4mm and 6mm pellet approach
and just sat it out for the bites to come along, there weren't that many but the
fish were decent size skimmers, well done Mucker!
3rd. Mick Scanlan, Oakwood Angling,
peg 32 17-08-0
Mick gets himself back into the fold soon after the sad lost of his father
on Sunday morning, sorry to hear your sad news mate, Mick likes his winter
fishing and is always there abouts in the frame this time of the year so a third
on a terrible wet and dismal day was a good performance, pellet on the long
pole.

Breaking Ice again as the temperature plummeted
over night, the weather man got it wrong again...

1st. John Hunt, Brentwood Angling,
peg 33 17-04-0
John young has started to find his feet on the lake now and not only doing
well in the winter league but enjoying his Wednesdays as well, a great draw for
John up in peg 33 a good deep water peg but with temperatures up and down like
this makes the fishing a bit unpredictable and the fish are reluctant to feed,
John fished the pole and pellet and only a small offering to try and get the
fish on the feed and it took all match because going into the last hour John
claimed only 4lb in his net, the better fish did turn up thankfully to save his
blushes.
2nd. Mark Parris, Lake John,
Golden peg 13 16-14-0
Mark had his first real bash on the top lake last week and managed a second
in section so to draw a golden peg he was in with a real chance, ice covered
Mark's peg to start with and it didn't look good for the Chingford man but
putting the feeder out looking and working his feed lines snared Mark a bonus
tench you should have seen his little face light up, but the bulk of his weight
was on the long pole at 13m, maggot over ground bait and the tench spotted a
piece of corn on a hair rig, a real carp anglers trick...
3rd. Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,
peg 3 16-12-0
A decent angler would have won out of this peg, you've lost it Amos.

Golden peg Amos remains on form with his trusty pellet approach as the match proceeded in thick freezing fog...

Martin Amos, Bedwell Fisheries,
Golden peg 32
24-00-0,
The weather kept the lakes frozen solid all last week and with a mild front
forecast we all expected to enjoy a days fishing without ice breaking well we
were wrong cat ice had covered the entire lake and for some it was a task to
clear, Martin had a plan for the ice as he scooped a big bucket of water and
kept hurling it out to almost full pole length very clever, two lines at 13m one
with ground bait the other with pellet in the deeper water and 2 hours in the
pellet was doing the business as it always does for him, skimmers and roach on
the long pole, and a big pay day of £250.
2nd. Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle,
peg 39 21-00-0
A good draw as this was the only peg to produce a bite last week, feeder
early kept me busy for the first hour and then it was a slowly, slowly approach
with the feed and a single red maggot to the hook on the long pole skimmers and
some very active hungry roach, it was a fine line between feeding the roach off
and not over feeding the skimmers and spooking the peg, probably didn't do it
quiet right today letting the Amos in for the big haul...
3rd. Kenny Farrell, Browning-Lake John,
peg 3 17-06-0
Ken seemed to enjoy himself catching a roach a put for the first half of the
match but it has probably cost him a place looking for the skimmers that were
not there, the right thing to do is look but for how long, Ken had the roach
queing up left and right of his peg at 6m, but this ace knew a couple of bigger
fish would have made the difference...
