The same result on the same peg as last week for Matty Hart....

Only 10 fished, boy was it windy....

1st. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital                     peg 39        64-10-0
Well Matt drew this peg last week and netted a 74lb bag of skimmers and tench in much more presentable circumstance than this week so to net 64lb in the gusting swirling winds was a real achievement as the match attendance dropped to a 10 man event due to the strong winds, and despite the conditions it fished its head off with the lowest weight on the day weighing in at 27lb, Matt caught on the short pole with maggot to the hook, skimmers and bream with a tench or two...

2nd. Clive Bailey, Herts fire                                         Golden peg 30       54-00-0,
This would have been enough to take home all the bacon in these conditions but unfortunately for Clive, Matt was sitting on a familiar peg, Clive started catching very big fish short from the early part of the match and but for a couple of short quiet spells it was a constant flow of bites and fish including big perch and roach amongst skimmers and tench, golden peg rolls on for another week...

3rd. Alan Hart, Lake John                                                          peg 11        41-08-0
Alan was sitting on one of his favourite pegs this week and with a brief spell on the tip it was a short pole line that produced bites at 7m, you can see the pattern that's started here, short is best at the moment anyway...

4th. Sam Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital                          peg 33        38-08-0

Ken is back to his best and pips victory but only by 8oz's, and it was a bonus carp that came a got Ken out of trouble...

Nicely presented, and the fish even put his put his top fin up for the shot, John Shearer is the one
holding the perch not the bloke in the back ground with the red bucket.

1st. Ken Farrell, Browning-Lake John                                  peg 11            28-08-0
Well Ken has sorted things out in the past few weeks and he puts it down to a change of hooks, catching big fish is Ken's trade mark and even in these cold and dark winter days Ken has managed to sneak a few better fish out of late and given him a placing or two, maggot and ground bait has been the best bait of the entire winter but Ken has had his luck on corn and 6mm pellets, but this was a bit of a mixture but the Farrell is showing a bit of that legendary form of years gone by.

2nd. John Shearer, Simpsons of Turnford                           peg 14          28-00-0
Jnt 2nd. Len Goulding, Simpsons of Turnford                     peg 38          28-00-0
Once again this lake has produced a very close match which has been the consistency of the lake over the entire winter, and Magic man John Shearer very nearly takes the top slot but not only did he not win he had to share second spot with Simpsons top man Len Goulding, a very close contest and John pictured above holds aloft his prized catch of a 2lb 8oz stripy.

4th. Alan Hart, Lake John                                                        peg 39         27-00-0
This has been a form peg over the last couple of weeks and this is the sort of weight you would expect on the day and just one netted bream would have made this fourth a first, it just doesn't get any closer than this.

5th. Steve Clark, Sensas-Image                                              peg 36        26-06-0

Gordon the Terrapin with a big Maggot caught perch

1st. Gordon Bullock, Pro Master-Terrapins                  peg 32        45-12-0
It was a Terrapin last week that won (Steve Thorn) and the head man this week done it but only just, when asked, " how did you catch", Gordon replied "everywhere, the peg was full of fish, I caught tench on caster, bream came to the sweetcorn, and a bunch of squat tempted the skimmers, and red maggot kept me busy in the quiet spells", so in summary this Terrapin couldn't put a foot wrong, there was a high pressure front today and this was the recipe for a very high scoring and close match, well done to you Gordy (about time).

2nd. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital         peg 8          43-12-0
Matt was having a bad time in the morning but it soon changed in the afternoon when he decided to fish short at 7m and he proceeded to catch big skimmers and bream plus a bonus tench as well, this was a real turn around on the day as the last three fish in the last 30 minutes netted him around 7lb and this just goes to show that any of these pegs can produce a victory.

3rd. Ken Farrell, Browning-Lake John                           peg 33        43-02-0
Ken was on the tail of fellow Terrapin team mate Gordon towards the end of the match but it was the last hour that saved Ken's bacon because his down the margin line was just not working as it has been it the past couple of matches, so it was a late change to a shorter 7m line directly in front of him that produced a few better fish, and this seemed to be the pattern for the top six on the day.

4th. Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle                     peg 14        42-08-0

1st. Steve Thorn, Terrapins                                          peg 7        30-04-0
It was just like a summers day sitting in t-shirts and catching a few fish there were no real great bags but a close match again and it was a little bit of all change as the better fish seemed to be taking cover on the shorter 5m to 7m lines, it would appear that the longer 13m pole line has perhaps been hit too hard over the past few weeks, the tip has just not produced this winter and the pole has been deadly, so Steve who is currently lying fourth in the pairs decided to try something different and it worked, with pellet to the hook and a tiny amount of feed every put in, skimmers and bream.

2nd. Steve Clark, Sensas-Image                                  peg 30       27-04-0
Steve went to his peg with the knowledge that there have been a few fish short on the peg and indeed caught from the off, skimmers of a smaller standard than the winner and when that dried up it was back on the long 13m line with maggot and ground bait for a few more bites and just catching and resting his feed lines Steve kept the fish coming all match.

3rd. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital       peg 13       25-08-0
Jnt 3rd. Martin Foster, Sensas-Image                         peg 41       25-08-0
Martin Has only fished here a hand full of times and has done well on the day, mind you he has had a good travel partner as team mate Clarkey would have put him right to the fish, the peg has had a run of form as well, skimmers and silvers.

5th. Gordon Bullock, Terrapins                                    peg 32       24-08-0

YID ARMY... The big Spurs fan has done as well as his team this week and what a happy chap he was...

18 fished

1st. Len Goulding, Simpsons of Turnford                                 peg 34          33-08-0
The best bit of the day was beating the Gooner Dickie Carr and the jovial sing-a-long football songs, but it was the fishing that was as impressive with all the long periods of rain that had just kept flushing through the lakes has just upset the feeding pattern of the fish, but today it was back to its winter best roach and skimmers with a bonus bream or two making a show, the wind was a bit gusty so the shorter line was the best line of attack, Len introduced his ground bait and spiked a red maggot to his size 18 hook and just kept hauling all day, "YID ARMY", you could hear the little man shout...

2nd. Dickie Carr, Drennan-Springlakes                                      peg 11        31-08-0
"You'll never see me here again", Dicky said the last time he was here when he won his section, and now he claims second spot which is exactly the same position his team achieved on Tuesday night, feeder for the first hour is normal practice and then the long pole with ground bait and maggot, skimmers and silvers but just not enough to beat the big bloke from Simpsons.

3rd. Dennis Jarvis, Pro Master-Trabucco                                   peg 39        27-06-0
This was a good practice for the 4th round league match this weekend and the is the kind of result that will give Den a bit of a lift, I bet you would like to draw this one on Sunday mate, long pole again.

The Miller man does it with the aid of a bonus carp on roach tackle...

18 fished

1st. Gary Miller, Van Den Eynde                                        peg 38      35-00-0
The previous day we experienced so much rain that there was always going to be a chance that the fish would switch completely off the feed so, the approach to the day was a careful one. Skimmers and and roach were the main bulk of the weight on the maggot out on the 13m line and it was a fish a chuck all morning as the match unfolded there were a couple of carp being caught around the lake, and then Gary foul hooked a 14lb'er on the lightest tackle ever it was this fish that secured victory, this was no mean achievement its like towing your car from the Town Mead to the Abbey Church with a washing line its possible but there would be no room for error all that on a brand new pole that you don't want to be breaking in your first match using it...

2nd. Ken Farrell, Browning-Lake John                              peg 36      31-08-0
Ken back in the frame doing what he knows best, once the big fish started to make a show Ken set a pva netted pellet bag and hair rigged a couple of 4mm pellets to the hook and fished just under the willow, three carp for Ken and the biggest one on the day was said to be approaching the 28lb mark the other two were sub 10lb and therefore placed in the keepnet, King Ken is back...

3rd. Alan Hart, Lake John                                                    peg 11      30-13-0
Another carp attack this time a couple of the younger 4lb to 6lb fish all on the feeder as the pole line was very quiet and in reflection this was a feeder match for some and the pole should have never been set up, skimmers and a couple of small bream to the tip as well hooking maggot and corn.

1st. Steve Clark, Sensas-Image                                      peg 38          24-10-0
Fresh back from his Christmas and New Year Holiday Steve had a great days sport on a out of sorts peg, and fishing two lines at 13m one line for the pellet and the second line maggot and ground bait both lines produced on the day but if you had to chose the strongest line it would have had to favour the ground bait and maggot line he admitted, the water was as cold as we can remember and the fish were still as unpredictable as they were the weekend, so far from the best of form but there are still a few bites to be had and just like winter fishing it is anyone's match, welcome back Steve, and well done.

2nd. Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle                    peg 11          22-00-0
No fish hooked on the pellet today so after an early look on the feeder and an even quicker look on the 7m line it was always going to be the long pole all day and as it transpired the maggot was the only thing I could get a bite on, 6 balls of ground bait all match that's all the fish just kept coming on and off the feed, a good practice for the next round of the winter league Sunday, watch out Miller and you Amos!

3rd. Len Goulding, Simpsons of Turnford                     peg 36          21-00-0
Guess who's back Lenny's Back, the feeder was a short lived affair on what is reputedly the best feeder peg on the lake so the long pole was soon put to work and two tench and a run of skimmers were soon netted and safely stored in the keep net, this was another close match and this is a real example of how these winter matches could be won by anyone, pellet line produced and so did the ground bait line so there are methods for all here. (Len pictured above right)

1st. Mick Scanlan, GOT Baits-Oakwood Angling          peg 3         32-10-0
First match back since before the Christmas break and with only a bit of caster and pellet over a few balls of ground bait on the long pole line, Mick kept things nice and simple a great start to the match and the fish were in an orderly line and they were being picked of one at a time, net skimmers and small bream along with other silvers to top his nearest rival by the closest margin.

2nd. Simon Wilsmore, Milo-D+A Tackle                        peg 34        31-00-0
This has been a form peg in the last couple of matches so the Milo man marched on to the peg like a man about to start battle, this old chap can draw a peg it has to be said and some people think he also has the talent to back it up, Again skimmers to the long pole with a couple of cracking bonus tench to nearly 4lb.

3rd. Trevor Stanley, Fisherman's Cabin                        peg 9         26-08-0
My mate Trev well done, obviously enjoyed the day catching a few fish in the bitter cold, pellet has started to make a come back and this just the change of bait that switching the better fish on the feed, long pole for a nice bag of silvers.

1st. Gary Miller, Van Den Eynde                                         peg 8         27-12-0
Cuffley based Gary makes this his second victory in a row in only a few days and has a weight of fish that would be on many anglers Santa's wish list, maggot was the main line of attack and this was fish on two lines at 14m the fish are now happier at length shorter lines are very difficult, feeding left and right of his peg Gary found it hard to start but it really switched on in the closing hour of the match where Mr. Miller claims to have caught best part of 10lb that's more than most have caught all match...

2nd. Chris Vandervleit, Van Den Eynde-Bromages         peg 34        20-04-0
Team mate to the Miller man this was a Van Den Eynde one and two, maggot as well for Chris and it was the long pole again that has produced the goods, this was a difficult day for all but with a little bit of application and hard work the better fish do start to show, Chris had a good last 45 minutes and just pipped the England man Wilsmore on the next peg.

3rd. Simon Wilsmore, Milo - D+A Tackle                            peg 36        18-08-0
This completes' the who's who of angling greats on the lake today and surprise surprise they are all in a line, chopped worm and caster was the approach for Simon and plenty of ground bait on the long pole, it looked like he might have over fed his peg but with a few tricks up his sleeve he just did enough to pocket a few quid in this bumper Christmas payout and with Le Spice delivering the after match tucker this was a pleasant conclusion to a increasingly cold day.

Sam was off to a very fast start with skimmers and the odd better bream all taken to a tail of worm and with the less is more approach Sam only put in four balls of ground bait all match and bagged for duration with the better fish joining in the latter stage of the day just before the temperatures dropped down to what seemed like near freezing again, the lakes will be frozen by morning mark my words, well done Sam couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke....

I think these fish must be following me about, caster early in the inner margins up in the water for a net full of roach and the odd skimmer whilst the longer 13m line directly out in front was maturing, only three balls of groundbait in the beginning packed with caster and micro pellet was just the ticket for a few fish to move into the area, there was a quiet spell two hours from the end that wasn't good but in the closing 30 minutes with worm to the hook I had a run of fish which was probably the saving factor to keep the Milo duo at bay, its like Christmas has come early having their trousers down, bad luck you two hope you have a good festival next week.

2nd. Simon Wilsmore, Milo-D+A Tackle                                peg 3           38-08-0
Off to White acres next week and only a second place to boast about to all his chums at the festival, and then he'll have to tell them who won it and he will have to say a novice amateur, Unlucky ginger!, Simon started long and caught fairly quickly when that dried up he just topped up and dropped in on the short line caster and worm, this time of the year all fish count so you'll be surprised how those small fish add up, back out long for another bagging session he fished it like a champ but didn't win, which makes a change.

3rd. Grant Fear, Milo-Acton Angling                                      peg 11          32-12-0
Grant had a little smirk on his face as he went to lift his net up and it looked like the face of glory over his team mate Simon, but as the dial settled a few pounds short of Wilsmore's weight it looked like a little tear just started to glisten in the corner of his eye, I don't think it was the wind but you can never be sure on a cold wintery December afternoon, unlucky captain, it was worm and caster also for Grant these fish are just not having the pellet at the moment

1st. Simon Wilsmore, Milo-D+A Tackle                            peg 30        33-08-0
Using this as a practice for the White acres festival, Simon chopped his worm and mixed his ground bait and balled it at 14m and fished all around his peg for what ever came along in true Wilsmore fashion this close run match only had one champ, skimmers and other silver fish not too many bigger bonus fish were tantalized by the worm and caster cocktail, unlike Dave Davis who had a cracking 2lb plus roach from peg 34, the first week of practice for the Milo winter league starts this weekend, check out the link on the front page of the website for more details.

2nd. Grant Fear, Milo-Acton Angling                                 peg 7          28-12-0
My captain in the ACA masters this year and Milo's second in command Grant also chopped them worms into his peg at 14m and topped up where necessary, catching all day but again the fish were not of a bonus nature just a pleasent days fishing and this was just enough to pip second spot by just 12oz's, should have done better from this match winning peg captain.

3rd. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital             peg 13         28-00-0
It has to be said that Mat has been on his fish this month and it was another good draw that keeps him up there in the money as he follows close behind the Milo men, a broken pole mid match meant for a change of tack when the match went a bit quiet, by the latter stages of the match soon had a few fish back in the peg, skimmers and roach munched on Mat's worm and caster

Have a Hart Matty, this was Scan the man's shot at being a member of the three in a row club

18 fished

1st. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital             peg 33          37-14-0
In probably one of the better winter pegs on the lake Mat has after a rocky start fed a swim in the inner margins and soon realized that this peg which has been down on performance over the past weeks could have a change of fortune, bigger skimmers and the odd bonus bream were soon coming together in great numbers hardly any feed was Mat's approach as he steadily caught mid match it was the closing stages where things went a bit wrong when the match he won he very nearly could have lost as two anglers were closing in on him, and due to lack of daylight this meant the match times are shorter and Mat enjoyed a well deserved victory.

2nd. Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle                       peg 34          37-06-0
This was a close match for the top three and it could have been anyone's match, well done Mat you just went to prove that its not only great big 39lb carp in this peg, not too much feed these fish are really needing a bit of thinking about now less in definitely more worm to the hook caster in the groundbait and feed to your bites 0.10 hook lengths and a size 18 hook gets you plenty of bites.

3rd. Mick Scanlan, GOT Baits-Oakwood Angling              peg 11        37-04-0
If I had my way mate I would have put some fish back and bought you a T-Shirt but I could let Matty beat me so I suffered and in turn you suffered, sorry mate but you are still the most consistent man on the lake at the moment, not much feed and just loads of bites and fish, worm to the hook.

1st. Mick Scanlan, GOT Baits-Oakwood Angling             peg 34        41-04-0
Do the same next week and you become a member of our three in a row club, doesn't matter what peg you give him he will empty it at the moment, long pole worm and caster with a splash of ground bait for good measure the trick with the approach is working out where the bigger fish are in your peg its all about working hard and thinking, smaller hooks and lighter lines will make for loads and loads of bites, target the skimmers and the rest will follow.

2nd. Alan Hart, Lake John                                                  peg 29         31-13-0
The feeder again this week was tried and once again failed, so the long pole was the best foot forward and with the cold wind smacking Al in the face all day it meant he had something else to moan about this week, but full credit this was a decent days fishing for this time of the year, worm to the hook and the bites remained steady all day.

Micky Scan is the man, these are the type of conditions that suit the Oakwood team man...

1st. Mick Scanlan, GOT Baits-Oakwood Angling             peg 27        38-06-0
This is the start of Mick's favourite time of the year and with the colder temperature, this means the fishing becomes more of an art and like last year Mick had a very successful winter series Skimmers and bream a bonus tench was just enough to pip first place in a very close match indeed, just 6oz's seperate top two, long pole and worm to the hook keeping it nice and tidy, loads of bites.

2nd. Steve Clark, Sensas-Image                                        peg 36       38-00-0
Clarky is back now the big fish have started to sleep the top rods start to show themselves again and the silver fish dominate the venue, Steve fished long pole and in his first week back he just goes to show that he hasn't forgotten that much from last year, the only thing that has changed is the amount of ground bait and worm you need, skimmers and bream.

3rd. Sam Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital                     peg 8         31-04-0
Sam gave his brother and his Dad a tuning this week looked like he enjoyed doing it as well Good old Sam, long pole and that groundbait and worm approach again.

Who's the man?, Middy man Alec Roberts that's who, not content with cleaning up at Tyler's Common he is now on the Lake John trail...

1st. Alec Roberts, Middy                                                  peg 10         53-04-0
The sweetcorn down the edge wont work here Mr Middy but that groundbait and worm should do the trick, fishing at 14m Alec soon put a few fish in the net big bream and the odd tench were in the peg munching on the offerings that were frequently falling, plenty of bait was required due to the mild condition that are still with us, a bit of caster for good measure and the fish were pretty constant most of the match, being the official time keeper in charge of the whistle I watch Al net his last fish put into his keepnet and as the time was running out I could see the Middy man shipping his pole out as quick as possible hoping to net another 2lb'er so I let him ship about 7m of pole out before I cruelly blew the whistle, its just my way, Ha, ha, ha, I also told him afterwards he called me a name....Al you the Daddy.

2nd. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra                          peg 3         49-04-0
Mat said at the draw bag that he was pleased with the peg and with the wind blowing into his face it must be said, It was always going to be an early advantage, Long pole for Matthew and just Like Mr Roberts the fish were of a better stamp, this often the way when you fish into the wind, bream and skimmers but there were a few fish that escaped the hook and cost him that extra position.

3rd. Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle                      peg 27        47-04-0
Up one place from last week getting there slowly, had a couple of carp pay me a visit and one was exactly 10lb and the other escaped in the closing 30 minutes, today I was well and truly Middy'd.....

Mat follows he's brothers success of last week with a victory on his return from a short break...

18 fished

1st. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital                   peg 9         39-04-0
A slow start due to the drop in water temperature made the match very close in the early part of the day, But Mat fed a new line down a peg to his left and with a couple of balls of ground bait on the pole line and a worm to the hook he managed to put a few fish together, skimmers mainly with the odd bonus 3lb bream, the feeder this week was not working at all...

2nd. Mick Scanlan, Oakwood-GOT Baits                  Golden peg 39       35-00-0
This peg was second last week and Mickey boy run to the peg knowing it was a golden one as well, and it was very nearly a bumper pay day for the ex-E17 angling boss, ground bait and worm with a bit of caster for good measure on one line and GOT baits expander pellets on another skimmers and small silvers with a bonus tench, off the mark like a whippet it looked like there was only going to be one winner, but alas not this week.

3rd. Trevor Stanley, Fisherman's Cabin                                peg 13       33-08-0
Half way through the match I ask Trevor if he was catching and he said that he has just woke up Trevor managed to tweak his rig and with a little adjustment the fish began to flow if only he had done that sooner, bigger fish started to follow the skimmers and the roach a little bit of chopped worm every put, made the difference

4th. Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle                             peg 11       28-04-0

5th. Gordon Bullock, Terrapins                                               peg 34       27-08-0

Sam Hart does just enough to beat his Dad, it was both of them that were gutted about the fish that were lost during the match...

18 fished

1st. Sam Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital                          peg 33        50-02-0
This was always going to be a good peg on a windy day like today, the wind was directly into Sam's corner and speaking to him after the match so were the fish, no carp showed today which is a sign that it is becoming all things wintery, 6m on the pole ground bait and worm did the trick skimmers and big bream and two great big tench that escaped the hook at the net, sounds a bit like pilot error to me Sammy!, a busy day all the same....

2nd. Alan Hart, Lake John                                                         peg 39        47-08-0
Second last week as well and it was this consistence the helped Papa Hart win the summer league a couple of weeks back, with the wind pushing into his face also there was a massive fish activity bubbles and fish rolling for the most part of the match and with an early carp that broke off in the morning this proved to be a costly fish, pole mainly worm and ground bait but there were a few fish to the tip as well.

3rd. Ken Farrell, Browning-Lake John                                    peg 14         44-08-0
Good old Ken back in the lime light, long pole worm and caster with bit of ground bait but knowing Ken he would be introducing the 6mm pellet somewhere along the line, mixed bag of silvers.

4th. Martin Amos, Elite Baits-Old Hatfield Angling    Golden peg 9         36-08-0

After a superb victory down on the Crown stretch of the Lea at Broxbourne on Sunday in the winter league, this was a topping off victory making it two out of two for Ex-Essex County hero Vanderflit

1st. Chris Vanderflit, Van Den Eynde-Bromages                 peg 36        63-00-0
Drawn on one of the best pegs on the lake this time of the year Chris has had a busy hour on the tip hooking a couple of those baby carp that live under the willow on the island plus an early bonus carp, this was just the start CV needed to have any chance of winning a quid from me, when he finally took to the pole the skimmers and better bream were waiting there for the worm and caster feast that awaited them, tench were also amongst the species this fishing legend hooked during his six hour stay, I would just like to add that it was my luncheon meat that helped catch his carp.

2nd. Alan Hart, Lake John                                                       peg 30        50-04-0
Last weeks winner and this week not too far away, as the feeder approach failed miserably in the early part of the match it was an all out pole attack for the senior member of the Hart family, pellet and worm at 13m proved just the cocktail for the bigger bream and with a bonus carp hooked and lost in the last hour this was always going to be a second placing for Alan.

3rd. Mick Scanlan, GOT Baits-Oakwood                                peg 38       46-08-0
This peg was second last week and it was an unusual approach down the edge that produced a 60lb bag but no such luck this week for Mick who took this info to the peg but just had no response from anything other than tiny silvers, back in the frame this week and it is now coming into the time of the year when Mick does the business.

4th. Len Goulding, Simpsons of Turnford                              peg 34       45-08-0

Alan Hart has a feeder feast bagging small carp tench and bream for a near 100lb

1st. Alan Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital               peg 11        91-12-0

Alan has had a moan the last couple of weeks about his draw and anyone that knows him knows that the feeder is his preferred method so drawing one of the best feeder pegs on the lake Alan was very quiet, action speaks louder than words comes to mind and this being the final of the summer league what a day to draw a peg like that, small fish to start on the pole and then feeder all the way to the far bank.

2nd. Brian Harmer, Lake John                                     peg 38        67-08-0
Brain really spun his fortunes around when all else failed it was a full blown carp attack down the edge, four great big carp and 27lb of bits was enough for second place in this star studded match.

3rd. Simon Wilsmore, Milo-D+A Tackle                      peg 36       58-04-0
Simon was here last week and made it look easy with his full on worm attack but for what ever reason the fish weren't feeding as well and it was a real struggle to get the fish in the mood but late on Milo man really put a few fish together

Simon Wilsmore adds to his Irish fortune with a clear victory from a very calm peg 8, they say money goes to money, how true!

1st. Simon Wilsmore, Milo-D+A Tackle                  peg 8       70-10-0
Last week Simon picked up £4,000 for a festival victory, and his good form continues as he chopped his worms and balled his ground bait, it was instant as the skimmers and the bream lined up for the Milo ace, tench soon joined the fun and seven of those were calculated in the final net on a day when the wind blew and blew, Simon found himself in an area that he and his halo managed to fish the long pole almost single handed, will the Milo man put his company name to the Lake John winter league, the LAKE JOHN FISHERY-MILO MASTERS, it got a ring to it don't ya think....

2nd. Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle            peg 34        65-10-0
Fished the long pole got blown off my box wind burnt and a smacked arse from the Mr Wilsmore, cupped in ground bait and caster with worm to the hook plenty of fish, lost two carp during the match and that was that.

3rd. Grant Fear, Milo-D+A Tackle                            peg 30        47-08-0
This was my Captain in the ACA Masters Mallory Park last month and Grant also balled the ground bait with worm and caster he probably had it the hardest of all with the gusting wind blowing as it was, but a good effort in these challenging conditions.

Back from a Dutch fishing festival, Len Goulding bags a huge weight of skimmers on the long pole continuing some of the success he had on the canals in Holland...

1st. Len Goulding, Simpsons of Turnford               peg 3          69-00-0

Picking up a payday has been very familiar for Mr Goulding over the last week enjoying plenty of fish and the pattern continues on his return fishing the long pole this was a busy day bagging up on the skimmers that gathered over his ground bait, no bonus fish just lots of youngsters.

2nd. Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle              peg 39        59-10-0
Long pole, caster and ground bait, for a busy day on the skimmers and roach, as temperatures dip the hook baits are now starting to change

3rd. Martin Amos, Elite Baits-Hatfield Angling        peg 13        56-08-0

The top six on the day

20 Fished

1st. Matthew Hart, Princess Alexandra Hospital          peg 30       65-08-0
Mat is having a great run of form and good luck to him with four carp hooked and not seen, Mat was grateful of a bonus 10lb released and a baby which was only good enough for the net skimmers and a bonus bream or two made for a good days angling, pellet long pole.

2nd. John Dulieu, Viscount Angling                 Golden peg 38       63-12-0,
This is the third golden peg in four weeks for Mr John and unlucky he just missed a big pay day, three bonus carp were released and 33lb 12oz of mixed were added to Dulieu’s final haul, pellet long pole.

3rd. Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+B Tackle                     peg 34       61-12-0
No bonus carp, one hooked but I let it go (not), skimmers and eight tench up in the water, had an appointment in the morning and couldn’t start the match until 12am that’ll teach me, pellet long pole up in the water.
